Casa Forner, Venezia Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Casa Forner, Venezia, you immediately sense you’ve found something special in the maze of Venice’s backstreets. This three-star gem sits tucked away in the Santa Croce district, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has that authentic Venetian charm — you know, the kind where you feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully restored family home rather than a generic hotel. There’s an intimacy here that larger properties simply can’t match.

The Perfect Venetian Neighborhood

What really struck me about Casa Forner, Venezia is how it places you right in the heart of authentic Venice without the tourist chaos. The Santa Croce area gives you that local feeling — you’ll pass neighborhood cafes where locals actually drink their morning espresso, not just tour groups. It’s a short walk to major sights, but you’re far enough away that you can actually hear yourself think in the evenings. Couples absolutely love this spot (they rate the location 9.5 out of 10), and I can see why — there’s something romantic about wandering these quieter canals together.

The Rooms and Comfort

The accommodations here feel thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter. You won’t find massive suites, but the rooms have character — think exposed beams, traditional Venetian touches, and windows that actually open to let in that canal breeze. The beds are comfortable enough that you’ll sleep well after all that walking around the city, and the bathrooms are modern without feeling out of place. It’s that sweet spot where historical charm meets practical comfort, which honestly can be hard to find in Venice at this price point.

Getting Around Venice

Here’s what I really appreciated — the hotel’s position makes navigating Venice so much easier. You’re close enough to the Rialto area to feel connected, but you won’t be fighting crowds every time you step outside. The vaporetto stops are accessible without being overwhelming, and there are actual grocery stores and everyday shops nearby if you need anything. I mean, Venice can feel like a theme park sometimes, but staying here gives you glimpses of how locals actually live in this incredible city.

Why Guests Love It

Casa Forner, Venezia works because it gets the fundamentals right without trying to be something it’s not. The staff knows the neighborhood and can point you toward that perfect bacaro for cicchetti or the quickest route to avoid tourist bottlenecks. The property earned its excellent 8.6 rating by focusing on what matters most — location, comfort, and genuine hospitality. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or concierge services you don’t need; you’re investing in a great base for exploring Venice while having a peaceful retreat to return to each evening. For travelers who want to experience Venice rather than just photograph it, this place delivers exactly what you’re looking for.

Best hotels in Venice blend frescoed salons, marble hammams, and rooftop altanas for prosecco sunsets.

The fact that they kept the traditional things in the house ie the bed linen and old furniture. It had atmosphere.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Sarah from United Kingdom – 2 June 2024 (9/10)

Lovely little apartment in the heart of Venice – check in went smoothly, everything was clean and with everything we needed.

What could be improved: It’s on a side street but even so you can hear some noise from passers by in the night.

  • Elizabeth from United Kingdom – 6 May 2024 (8/10)

The hosts were excellent, very helpful and accommodating, always available to answer questions. The apartment was well located

What could be improved: The apartment was a bit old fashioned with the decor and was quite small, but I think this is to be expected in Venice

  • Courtney from United States – 10 April 2024 (9/10)

Great location, comfortable, and Moreno was great!

  • John from Austria – 17 November 2023 (9/10)

The location was just about halfway between the train station and the Rialto Bridge, so it was very convenient to everything without the streets in the immediate area being overcrowded. It felt more like a normal neighborhood than a tourist district. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby, as well as a grocery store and the San Stae Vaporetto station within 5 minutes' walk. The host met us with the key and was very friendly and helpful.

  • Melissa from Australia – 12 September 2023 (9/10)

Loved this cosy apartment for our family. Beds comfortable. Clean. Lovely host with excellent communication. We loved the location far enough away from busy areas but close enough to get to. Quiet enough for us in the evening.

What could be improved: Nothing really.

  • Tran from Vietnam – 10 August 2023 (9/10)

This is a small but cosy house with a gentlemanly host.
