Fenix La Bohéme Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow alleyways of Castello to reach Fenix La Bohéme, you honestly feel like you’re discovering some hidden secret that most tourists miss. The hotel sits tucked away on Corte del Soldà — and I mean really tucked away — which initially had me second-guessing my GPS. But that’s actually part of its charm. This three-star property doesn’t try to be something it’s not, and there’s something refreshing about that authentic approach in a city where so many places feel overly polished for tourists.
The Neighborhood Feel
What I love about this location is how genuinely Venetian it feels. You’re in Venice, sure, but you’re experiencing the version that locals actually live in. The Castello district has this wonderful mix of residential life and historic charm — you’ll see laundry hanging from windows and hear actual conversations in Italian echoing off the walls. It’s about a 10-minute walk to St. Mark’s Square, but honestly, you might find yourself preferring the quieter streets around the hotel. Couples seem to really get this vibe (the feedback confirms what I observed), and I can see why — there’s something romantic about feeling like you’ve found your own little corner of the city.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully arranged — and when I say compact, I mean properly Venetian-sized, so adjust your expectations accordingly. The decor has this bohemian touch that matches the hotel’s name, with warm colors and vintage-inspired details that feel authentic rather than forced. You know what surprised me? The soundproofing was actually pretty decent, which matters when you’re surrounded by stone buildings that can amplify every footstep. The bathroom was modern enough, though again, don’t expect a sprawling spa-like space.
Getting Around
Here’s something practical that took me a day to figure out — the nearest vaporetto stop is Arsenale, and it’s genuinely useful for getting around without constantly walking through tourist crowds. The staff actually gave me solid directions (not just the obvious routes), and they seemed to know which water bus lines to avoid during peak times. There’s no parking obviously, but they’ll help coordinate water taxi arrivals if you’re coming from the airport, which honestly saves a lot of stress.
Why Guests Love It
The thing about Fenix La Bohéme is that it delivers exactly what it promises — a genuine Venice experience without the premium price tag or pretentious atmosphere. Recent guests consistently mention the location, and I get why. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the chaos to actually relax. The staff has this laid-back professionalism that works well — they’re helpful without being overly formal. It’s the kind of place where you might end up chatting with other travelers in the small lobby, sharing tips about hidden restaurant gems or quiet campos you’ve discovered. For the price point, it’s honestly hard to find fault with what they’re offering.

Location was great and sign in was very easy! It was simple and comfy and clean
What could be improved: Wi-FI didn't work for two daysTone from Norway – 20 April 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: The sofabed was a little uncomfertable, otherwise the place was great
Brigitte from United Kingdom – 1 April 2024 (8/10)
It was a very clean apartment with comfy beds, a lovely balcony, plenty of space, nice shower gel, and good storage and hanging space. Short walk to the waterbus stop.
What could be improved: It was very noisy. The apartment above were very noisy, and you could hear people just below in the street. It was a slightly long walk to the main area, but the Garibaldi 2 mins walk away was very convenient with supermarkets and cafes.Fatima from South Africa – 24 September 2023 (8/10)
It was close to Via Garibaldi which has cute restaurants and much quieter than the busy part in Venice
What could be improved: They charge you extra for late check in and the day I came the water buses were on strike and had to walk all the way to the apartment from the station. If
I arrived later they would have charged me for late check inSiónna from Ireland – 10 February 2023 (8/10)
Lovely, friendly hosts and a nice room. I was able to collect the keys from a safety deposit box, meaning I wasn’t rushing from my flight and was able to meet the host in the morning instead.
Nada from Czech Republic – 20 September 2022 (8/10)
Quiet location, bakery next door, local people
Francia from United States – 17 September 2022 (8/10)
Everything:
location, comfortable bed, beautiful setting, all the staff very attentive (provided specific directions about how to get there without any issues), Ionela very kind, Francesca and Matteo as well. I’m beyond happy with everything! I’m sure going back 👌😊
What could be improved: nothing
(the toilet odor that people were complaining, I figured it out and placed the trash can to cover the shower drainage, so I didn’t have any issue with that matter).Andrea from United Kingdom – 15 September 2022 (8/10)
A light airy large 3rd floor apartment with a balcony. A view of quiet streets away from the noise. 3 minutes walk from the Giardini Biennale site. Very near the lush and peaceful end of Venice. Air conditioning was great on hot nights. Friendly welcome.
What could be improved: The late check in fee I incurred because my flight was delayed. Apartment needs some redecorating. No microwave and only basic kitchen equipment.Sonja from Germany – 28 July 2022 (7/10)
very cozy appartment, nice bathroom and very kind and helpful staff
What could be improved: we were missing an ac or a kind of ventilator, because throughout the day it got pretty warm inside the appartment.Zane from Latvia – 5 July 2022 (8/10)
Very nice location close to Biennale. Super good communication and all in all comfy and nice place.
