First Impressions

Walking up to Gesuiti Loft along the Fondamenta Cannaregio, you immediately get that authentic Venetian feeling — you know, the one where you’re staying in a real neighborhood rather than some touristy bubble. This three-star property sits right in what locals consider one of the best areas of Venice, and honestly, I can see why couples are giving the location such high marks. The building itself has that understated Venetian charm without trying too hard to impress, which I actually appreciate more than those over-the-top palazzo conversions.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Here’s what I love about Cannaregio — it’s got this perfect balance where you’re close enough to everything but far enough from the madness of San Marco. You can walk to the Rialto in about ten minutes, but when you come home in the evening, you’re in a quieter part of town where actual Venetians live and work. The nearby Strada Nova gives you plenty of shops and cafes, and there’s this great little bacaro just around the corner that most tourists never find. I mean, when a location gets a 9.3 score, there’s usually a good reason for it.

The Space Itself

The loft-style setup really works well here — you get more space than your typical Venetian hotel room, which can sometimes feel like glorified closets. The design keeps things simple and functional, with enough character to remind you where you are without going overboard on the Venetian kitsch. What struck me most was how quiet it stays despite being in a fairly central area, probably because Cannaregio doesn’t get the same foot traffic as other districts once the day-trippers head back to the mainland.

Getting Around

The vaporetto stops are really accessible from here — you’ve got Ca’ d’Oro just a short walk away, which connects you to the Grand Canal route. But honestly, I found myself walking most places because the location is just that good. You can reach pretty much any major sight on foot, and there’s something satisfying about navigating the narrow streets and bridges at your own pace. The train station isn’t far either, which makes arrival and departure much less stressful than some other parts of Venice where you’re dragging luggage over countless bridges.

I think what really sets this place apart is that balance between accessibility and authenticity. You’re not paying five-star prices, but you’re getting that prime location that makes your whole Venice experience smoother. The fact that couples consistently rate it so highly tells you something — when you’re trying to be romantic in Venice, the last thing you want is to be constantly fighting crowds or feeling like you’re in a tourist trap. This spot gives you room to breathe while keeping you connected to everything that makes Venice special. It’s the kind of place where you can grab morning coffee with locals, then be at the Doge’s Palace twenty minutes later.

  very well located on a large piazza very close to Fonta Nove and easy walk into interesting areas of Venice. great neighborhood for food and drinks and super easy to get around day and night. The area felt very authentic and it was also calm enough to not be overly noisy. we always felt safe as well. Good value for money. The host was communicative and helpful.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment was not very well lit and could have used a decoration update but it was adequately comfortable for a couple for a short stay.

  This apartment was perfect, it had everything we needed for a perfect stay in Venice! Location was in a quieter area which we loved, a little further out for some but we wanted that! Loads of cafes and bars around 🙂
  
  What could be improved: The bed is extremely hard, so much so that I had to get painkillers for my back. The pillows are also very uncomfortable. I think with just this small change the apartment would be 10/10!

  Location was good. It's near Ft. Nova. Easy access and entry. Good communication.
  
  What could be improved: The 2nd bed is not good for an adult. The kitchenette was very pokey and difficult to really make a meal or prepare things. The power tripped a few times when we were washing.

  Lovely flat in a lovely location off the beaten track, quiet and easy to find. Close to great coffee shops and restaurants. Excellent value for money.
  
  What could be improved: Slight hiccough when we arrived as property was not quite ready but the owners dealt with the issue very quickly and efficiently and were very communicative.
