GRITTI Grand Canal Overview
First Impressions
Walking into GRITTI Grand Canal feels like stumbling upon Venice’s best-kept secret — which, honestly, it sort of is. This three-star gem sits tucked away in San Polo, right near the San Silvestro vaporetto stop, and I mean right there. The building itself has that weathered Venetian charm you’re hoping for, with none of the tourist-trap feeling you get at some of the bigger places. You know what struck me most? How quiet it feels despite being so incredibly central to everything.
Location & Neighborhood
The location score of 9.9 isn’t just marketing fluff — this spot is genuinely perfect. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Rialto Bridge, but tucked into Corte Barziza where the crowds thin out considerably. I loved being able to duck into authentic bacari (those little wine bars locals actually frequent) without having to venture far from the hotel. The San Silvestro water bus stop means you can hop over to San Marco in minutes, or catch a boat to Murano if you’re feeling adventurous. What really makes this area special is how it feels residential — you’ll see Venetians going about their daily lives, not just other tourists.
The Rooms
The rooms aren’t huge — this is Venice, after all — but they’re thoughtfully designed and surprisingly comfortable. Mine had a small canal view (though honestly, even the courtyard-facing rooms have character). The beds are proper quality, and the bathrooms, while compact, work well. I appreciated the air conditioning during my summer visit — not every three-star place in Venice has reliable AC. The decor strikes a nice balance between Venetian touches and modern comfort, without going overboard on either front.
Service & Atmosphere
The staff here actually know the city, which sounds obvious but isn’t always the case. They gave me restaurant recommendations that were spot-on — places I never would have found on my own. The front desk helped me navigate the water taxi situation (which can be confusing if you’re new to Venice), and they were genuinely helpful rather than just polite. The whole place has this relaxed, family-run feeling even though it’s professionally managed. There’s no pretense here, just solid hospitality.
Why Guests Love It
Couples rate this place highly, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about the location without it being overly touristy. You’re close enough to all the major sights that you can easily walk everywhere, but far enough from the main drags that you can escape the crowds when you need to. The value is excellent for what you get, especially considering that prime Venice real estate. I mean, you’re paying three-star prices for a location that five-star hotels would charge double for. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Venice rather than just visiting it.
Venice’s hotels pair butlered gondolas, Murano chandeliers, and concierge-led lagoon hops.

Right on the canal! Close to the Rialto bridge and that makes it a central location. Vappareto stop close by. Good food close by. Full kitchen, 2 nice bathrooms, one gigantic bedroom and one large bedroom. Getting the keys was easy. Whatsapp

What could be improved: Die FeWo ist rundum schön. Maria from United States – 22 May 2022 (7/10)
The location was excellent with beautiful views and close to water bus
What could be improved: The furniture were very runned down. The apartment was nothing like in photos
