Guesthouse Ca’ San Marcuola 2 Overview

First Impressions

Here’s the thing about Guesthouse Ca’ San Marcuola 2 — it’s one of those Venice finds that actually makes sense. You check in at Campo San Geremia (which is honestly much easier to navigate than some of the maze-like spots in the city), then head to your actual accommodation in Cannaregio. The whole setup feels refreshingly straightforward for Venice, where finding your hotel can sometimes feel like a treasure hunt. This three-star guesthouse sits in what locals know is one of the best-positioned neighborhoods, and you’ll understand why the moment you start exploring.

Location & Neighborhood

Cannaregio is where Venice gets real — I mean, you’re still surrounded by incredible architecture and canals, but there’s actual neighborhood life happening here. You’re close enough to San Marco that you can easily walk there (about 10-15 minutes), but far enough away that you escape the worst of the tourist crowds. The area around Ca’ San Marcuola 2 has proper grocery shops, local bars where Venetians actually drink their morning coffee, and that authentic feel that’s getting harder to find. Couples especially seem to love this spot — honestly, wandering these quieter canals at sunset is pretty magical.

The Accommodation Experience

What I appreciate about this guesthouse is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and designed with travelers in mind rather than Instagram. You get the essentials done well — good beds, functional bathrooms, and that sense of staying somewhere that feels more like a local apartment than a tourist hotel. The building itself has character (this is Venice, after all), and while you won’t find fancy amenities, you will find everything you actually need for exploring the city.

Getting Around Venice

From Guesthouse Ca’ San Marcuola 2, you’re perfectly positioned to explore Venice on foot, which is really the only way to do it properly. The Cannaregio area connects easily to different parts of the city — you can walk to the Rialto area, stroll toward the train station when it’s time to leave, or head toward the quieter northern parts of Venice that most tourists never see. There’s something satisfying about staying in a neighborhood where you start recognizing the local shop owners and finding your own favorite bacaro for evening drinks.

Why Guests Love It

The location score speaks for itself — 9.5 is pretty remarkable for Venice, where even expensive hotels sometimes leave you feeling isolated or overwhelmed by crowds. What works here is the balance: you’re in authentic Venice but with easy access to the major sights. The guesthouse attracts travelers who want to experience the city rather than just photograph it, and that creates a different kind of atmosphere. You know what? Sometimes the best Venice experience comes from staying somewhere that lets the city itself be the star, and Ca’ San Marcuola 2 does exactly that.

Reviews of Guesthouse Ca’ San Marcuola 2

  • Angelika from United Kingdom – 29 March 2025 (9/10)

What a great location! 5 min walk to the Main station and about 20 to saint Marco. However I loved the area more than saint marco! It was still busy and vibrant but not as crowded . Plenty and plenty of restaurants, osterias and antipasti bars. Coop shop very close by as well as coffee shops and fast food places. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept in in Italy ! Room was spacious and clean, with all bits and bobs included as listed. Tiny little fridge in the hallway to share between 5 other rooms but I count that as a bonus . Kettle in the room. Good shower. I acc got a room with balcony which was nice, sadly no view and it was raining but it would have been lovely on a sunny day. Not too noisy, although you are next to a small church tower and the bells occasionally do bell (7pm) I found it very cute 🥰 great complication from host and easy to find . Would highly recommend , definitely value for money, I would not pay more tho.

  • Egor from Germany – 1 March 2025 (9/10)

Great location, amazing view, and excellent value for money! The hotel is close to major attractions, yet quiet and charming. The room was clean and comfortable

  • Steve from United States – 24 February 2025 (9/10)

    Location

What could be improved: The beds were hard. One of my guests preferred the hard bed and me and another guest like something softer. It was ok but just a preference.

  • Erina from Australia – 20 November 2024 (9/10)

Top location and the price was very reasonable. Room was cozy and perfect. Super clean facility and the staff were very nice.

  • Cosmin from Romania – 3 August 2024 (8/10)

Nice historic building, very close to the water boats, easy access to Murano island as well. Easy check-in, friendly staff was very helpful; Truly venetian experience, in terms of such a stay. Price was decent.

What could be improved: Room is quite small, but enough to rest and sleep; Main attractions require a bit of a walk, if you do not wish to take the boat; checkin is in a different location, but very close to San Marcuola; elevator was not functional, at the time of our visit.

  • Giorgi from United Kingdom – 28 July 2024 (9/10)

Very cute clean room everything you need including little fridge conditioning old style but better than new 👍😍

What could be improved: Nothing to complain only thing I thought was including price was tourist charges I paid extra for 2 nights for 3 person 12 euros nothing major

  • George from United Kingdom – 13 June 2024 (8/10)

    The location.

What could be improved: The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. Our neighbours on our first night were a little inconsiderate, they had an argument in the early hours of the morning which went on for over an hour. 😞

  • Linda from United States – 8 June 2024 (8/10)

Extraordinary location, close to all terminals, docks and main drags yet quiet right on a smaller canal with its daily traffic.

What could be improved: Didn’t know about the lift. Tough climb to top floor.

  • Cristy from Canada – 28 May 2024 (9/10)

    Very clean

  • Galit from Israel – 28 July 2023 (9/10)

Perfect location in a very quiet street
    Good value for money
    Very clean. Daily housekeeping
Our triple room even had a nice balcony!
No breakfast, about 40 stairs to the room (did not bother us!)
