Guglie Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of Cannaregio to reach Guglie, you honestly can’t help but feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special. This three-star property sits right in what locals consider one of the best neighborhoods in Venice — and I mean, when you see that 9.7 location score, it’s not just marketing fluff. The building itself has that authentic Venetian charm without trying too hard, you know? It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in someone’s carefully restored family home rather than a generic hotel.
The Cannaregio Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re actually in a real Venetian neighborhood, not some tourist bubble. Cannaregio is where locals still do their grocery shopping and kids play in the campos. The Guglie bridge is literally around the corner (hence the name), and honestly, watching the water taxis navigate under it never gets old. You can walk to San Marco in about fifteen minutes, but more importantly, you’re close to some incredible bacari that most tourists never find. The Jewish Quarter is practically next door too, which adds this whole other layer of history to your morning walks.
Your Room and Comfort
The rooms here are what I’d call “thoughtfully compact” — this is Venice, after all, where space is precious. But they’ve made smart choices with the layout, and each room feels surprisingly airy despite the building’s age. The windows actually open (not always a given in renovated Venetian buildings), and if you’re lucky enough to get one facing the canal, well… let’s just say you’ll understand why couples rate this place so highly. The beds are genuinely comfortable — I mean, after a day of walking on those stone streets, you really notice the difference.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here have this lovely rhythm to them. You’ll hear the city waking up — water taxis puttering by, shopkeepers opening their metal shutters, the occasional gondolier calling out warnings at tight corners. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work, and they’re full of those insider tips that actually matter. Like which vaporetto stop to use when it’s crowded (spoiler: not the obvious one), or where to grab the best coffee without paying tourist prices. It’s these small touches that make the 9.4 rating feel completely earned.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Venice can be overwhelming, but staying at Guglie gives you this perfect home base that feels both authentic and comfortable. You’re not fighting crowds every time you step outside, but you’re also not stuck in some remote corner of the city. The fact that couples consistently rave about the location tells you everything — this is the kind of place where you can have romantic evening strolls along quiet canals, then easily pop over to busier areas when you want that classic Venetian energy. It strikes that sweet spot between being genuinely local and practically convenient, which honestly isn’t easy to find in this city.
Hotels near me in Venice offer water taxi moorings, Basilica queues, and gondola lessons steps away.

Reviews of Guglie
Carolyn from Australia – 24 October 2024 (9/10)
A lovely home for a family to experience local life and beautiful Venice. The host Barbara was very friendly and thoughtful. Location suits us too (not much walk from the train station and very close to the Ferry wharf). The property is very clean, with two good sized bedrooms (the main one seemed even bigger than I expected). We enjoyed our stay in the Guglie apartment. Highly recommended to other families. We also enjoyed dinner at the nearby restaurants (the seafood pasta was delicious).
What could be improved: Nothing I could think of. All good.Kym from Canada – 18 October 2024 (9/10)
Barbara was a wonderful hostess. The apartment had everything that you needed. Location was a 6 minute walk from the train. The apartment was very quiet at night. A/C and heating worked well. Lots of restaurants to pick from. Walkable to all of Venice. Would stay here again. Recommend!
What could be improved: The only negative are the stairs. It's not a big deal, but if you have any issues with stairs, it could be a problem.Nev from Canada – 8 October 2024 (9/10)
The location was very good. Close to transportation, restaurants, stores and markets. Unit is off the main tract so was relatively quiet. Unit was very clean and comfortable and all we needed for our 3 night stay. Our Host Barbara was always just a Whatsapp message away if needed. She provided lots of maps and info in the unit to help us.
What could be improved: The only real thing that we had concern with was not with the unit itself but in the stairway of the building that was extremely dark (no lights) at night that made walking the marble/stone stairs a challenge.Emma from United Kingdom – 26 September 2024 (9/10)
The location was a short walk from the station. Very handy for the water bus with supermarket and restaurants on our doorstep. Bedrooms were both good size with a well equipped kitchen. Small but adequate bathroom. The apartment was very clean and the air con was much needed!

Barbara met us at the ferry stop to show us the apartment and gave us loads of info on where to go and what to see!
Apartment was perfect. Really quiet at nights (as it backs onto a courtyard) but excellently placed to get to all parts of Venice either walking or at the ferry station!
Everything was clean and well equipped.Karima from Canada – 7 September 2024 (10/10)
Wonderful location close to shops and transportation. Walking distance to the attractions.

Excellent location. Not far from the main streets and station but still able to 'escape' the busy city. Barbara was absolutely amazing and so helpful and kind to us as first timers in Venice. Her apartment is a piece of paradise in Venice and you'd be lucky to stay there.
