Hotel Description

Nestled in the historic Castello district of Venice, the three-star Hideaway Biennale offers an enchanting retreat in one of Italy’s most captivating cities. This charming boutique accommodation has earned an impressive 8.7 rating from satisfied guests, testifying to its exceptional service and inviting atmosphere. Located at Castello, 1275, the hotel enjoys a privileged position in Venice’s largest sestiere, an area known for its authentic Venetian character away from the busiest tourist routes yet conveniently close to the city’s treasures. The Castello district perfectly balances tranquility with accessibility, allowing guests to experience the true essence of Venetian life while remaining within comfortable walking distance of iconic landmarks. The Hideaway Biennale embodies its name, offering a genuine sanctuary after days spent exploring the magical labyrinth of canals, bridges, and piazzas that make Venice an eternal source of wonder.

The hotel’s location in the eastern part of Venice places it near the renowned Biennale exhibition spaces—a paradise for art enthusiasts—and just a leisurely stroll from St. Mark’s Square, the historic heart of Venice. From here, guests can easily explore the magnificent St. Mark’s Basilica with its Byzantine domes, the imposing Doge’s Palace, and the romantic waterfront promenades of Riva degli Schiavoni. The Arsenal, Venice’s historic shipyard and naval power center, is also nearby, offering fascinating glimpses into the maritime republic’s storied past. What distinguishes the Hideaway Biennale is its positioning within a traditional Venetian neighborhood, where guests can observe local life unfolding among small squares, family-run trattorias, and artisan workshops that have preserved centuries-old crafts. The hotel’s impressive 8.7 rating reflects guests’ appreciation for this authentic immersion in Venetian culture while enjoying the comforts of well-appointed accommodations.

Though modest in size compared to larger chain hotels, the Hideaway Biennale compensates with personalized attention and character that larger establishments often lack. The three-star rating belies the wealth of comforts and thoughtful touches that await travelers seeking an intimate Venetian experience. Previous guests consistently praise the hotel’s attentive staff, whose local knowledge transforms ordinary visits into extraordinary journeys through Venice’s lesser-known marvels. From recommending hidden bacari (traditional wine bars) where locals gather for cicchetti (Venetian tapas) to suggesting the best times to visit popular attractions, the hotel serves as both a comfortable haven and a gateway to authentic Venetian experiences. The Hideaway Biennale particularly appeals to cultural travelers drawn to Venice’s artistic heritage, with its proximity to the Biennale venues making it an ideal base during the city’s internationally acclaimed art and architecture exhibitions. Whether visiting for the Biennale festivals or simply to soak in the timeless beauty of La Serenissima, guests find in this welcoming establishment a perfect balance of Venetian charm, modern comfort, and strategic location—all contributing to the outstanding 8.7 rating that places it among Venice’s most highly regarded accommodations in its category.

  • Brendan from United Kingdom – 29 October 2024 (9/10)

The location is very near to the vaporetto – 5 minutes – as well as to Via Garibaldi – which can provide you with plenty of eating options from local trattoria/cafes or if you choose to do more self-catering (great local bakery/vegetable stall/co-op etc). The apartment is in the loft/top floor, so has nice views. It's perfectly comfortable for a couple.

  • Kristoffer from Switzerland – 3 June 2024 (9/10)

A really nice, quiet and well equipped apartment at a great location, about 150 m from the Giardini boat station, next to parks, and with view over the lagoon.

What could be improved: Be aware that the stairs to the apartment are a bit steep, and the exposed beams in the ceiling of the living room/kitchen area are around 190 cm from the floor.

  • Alan from United Kingdom – 31 October 2022 (7/10)

Excellent location for the biennale – contemporary interior – view across to the Giudecca – well equipped kitchen etc.

What could be improved: Old steep staircase up to this top floor apartment – building works in progress on floor below made stairs more hazardous through resulting grit and dust. Cleaning wasn’t carried out properly after making the complaint. Loft bedroom ceiling was very low when accessing the bed – space not usable for dressing. Property more suitable to younger agile people.

  • Astrid from Austria – 9 December 2024 (9/10)

Tolle Unterkunft, super Lage etwas abseits vom Trubel

  • Chantal from France – 16 October 2024 (9/10)

    La déco, l’emplacement, la vue

What could be improved: Les escaliers sont très raides… mais c'est Venise

  • Jürgen from Germany – 17 September 2023 (9/10)

Besonders die Lage da wir die Biennale besucht haben.

    What could be improved: Nichts

  • Słowińska from Poland – 9 April 2023 (9/10)

What could be improved: Brak zmywarki, ale to mały problem, da się bez niej przeżyć.

  • Bernd from Germany – 11 July 2022 (9/10)

  • Bettina from Austria – 25 May 2022 (8/10)

die Lage, die tolle Aussicht, die geschmackvolle Ausstattung

What could be improved: kein Ansprechpartner vor Ort, bei Stromausfall am Tag der Abreise verspätete Rückmeldung – Duschen, Kaffee, Geräte aufladen war nur im Finsteren oder nicht möglich

  • Daniele from Italy – 11 April 2022 (9/10)
