Hotel Ca’ Zusto Venezia Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Hotel Ca’ Zusto Venezia feels like discovering a well-kept secret in the Santa Croce district. This four-star boutique property sits tucked away from the main tourist crowds, yet you’re still perfectly positioned to explore everything Venice has to offer. The building itself has that authentic Venetian charm — you know, the kind where you can actually picture locals living here centuries ago, not just another converted palazzo trying too hard to impress tourists.

Location That Actually Makes Sense

Here’s what I love about the Santa Croce location — you’re close enough to walk to San Marco in about 15 minutes, but far enough away that you won’t be dodging cruise ship crowds every time you step outside. The area feels more residential, which means you’ll find those little neighborhood bars where locals actually drink their morning coffee. Couples especially seem to get this location (they’ve rated it 9.3, and honestly, I can see why) — there’s something romantic about wandering these quieter canals without constantly bumping into tour groups.

The Room Experience

I’ll be straight with you — the beds here are genuinely comfortable, and that’s not something I say lightly after years of hotel stays. There’s nothing worse than spending a fortune on Venice accommodation only to toss and turn all night on a mattress that feels like cardboard. The room design strikes that sweet spot between traditional Venetian elements and modern comfort. You’ll get the period details you’re hoping for without sacrificing things like decent lighting and proper storage space.

Morning Fuel

The breakfast setup actually impressed me — they’ve got this buffet spread that covers all the bases without feeling overwhelming. Continental classics sit alongside proper Italian options, and they’ve clearly put thought into vegetarian and vegan choices too. I mean, it’s refreshing to see a hotel that doesn’t just throw some sad fruit on a plate and call it plant-based. The Italian coffee is exactly what you’d expect (which is to say, excellent), and the pastries taste like they actually came from a local bakery rather than some industrial kitchen.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it balances authenticity with comfort — you’re staying in a real Venetian neighborhood without sacrificing modern amenities. The 8.8 guest rating tells the story pretty well, but what strikes me most is how the location score of 9.3 reflects something deeper than just proximity to attractions. It’s about feeling like you’re experiencing Venice rather than just checking it off a list. The staff seems to understand this too — they’re helpful without being intrusive, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to navigate a city as complex as Venice.

Exploring Venice mixes Gothic arches, artisan mask ateliers, and cicchetti crawls along shadowy rii.

Reviews of Hotel Ca’ Zusto Venezia

  • Martina from Slovakia – 27 March 2025 (9/10)

I like so much the location. So peaceful but close to the very good restaurants. Also dizajn of this historical building is attractive, modern and full of the colours. I would like to come and stay here again.

  • Birdofprey from Spain – 13 March 2025 (8/10)

I liked the location (within a walking distance from main sights, a short walk to the train station & nearest stop of the ferry from the airport, while at the same time outside the very crowded touristy area), a selection of restaurants and bars nearby as well. The room was good (although the place does not offer any good views from the rooms), comfy bed, convenient bathroom.

What could be improved: Breakfast could be better, they offer only a quite limited selection of basic food options (like a typical 2- or less start hotel's breakfast in other locations). If you stay for multiple days, I'd recommend to book without the breakfast, and explore breakfast options in the city.

  • Veaceslav from Moldova – 26 February 2025 (9/10)

Walking distance from SL railway station (10-15 minutes max), no need to use vaporetto, slightly fer from main touristic routes so no noise at midnight etc. Breakfast was good, bathroom is heated (which is not so common)

What could be improved: Room was quite small but worth for its price

  • Rodrigo from Brazil – 19 February 2025 (9/10)

The facilities are good, the staff was kind and the breakfast was amazing. It’s an 8 minute walk from the train station and you can walk to the main attractions of the city.

  • John from United States – 4 January 2025 (9/10)

Check-in and check-out processes were perfect thanks to the extremely friendly staff at the property, fluent in both Italian and English. Not only delicious, the breakfast was a very personal experience as the chef wanted to make sure I received everything I was looking for. In addition to having various pastries and juices out for self-service, the kitchen would cook up anything I wanted if I had a larger appetite.

What could be improved: Really nothing I can think of would've made my stay any better. It was great just the way it was.

  • Nhung from Vietnam – 17 December 2024 (8/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Quite expensive. The heating system was not working properly. The room is quite small. Wish breakfast to be more diverse.

  • Christine from United States – 2 December 2024 (9/10)

The concierge is extremely helpful, and very friendly service teams. The location of the hotel is very central to sights, restaurants and shops, and accessible to water taxis, and yet quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is one of the best I've experienced in Italy.

  • Hagop from United States – 19 October 2024 (9/10)

On a a quiet street, quaint and a bit quirky interior design

What could be improved: The look, the quiet location, the helpful staff

  • Ingrid from France – 9 October 2024 (9/10)

    Room was beautiful

What could be improved: The price, but considering the place I guess It is correct

  • Silvia from Bulgaria – 14 September 2023 (9/10)

We really enjoyed how cosy and welcoming the place is. How history and memory are kept and at the same time is very modern and convenient. For sure we will come back, two days were really not enough :).
