Hotel Description
Nestled in the historic Cannaregio district of Venice, the 3-star Hotel Tintoretto offers travelers an authentic Venetian experience with modern comforts. With its impressive 8.0 rating, this well-regarded establishment has earned a reputation for delivering quality accommodations in one of Italy’s most enchanting cities. Located at Cannaregio Santa Fosca 2316, the hotel occupies a prime position in one of Venice’s most characteristic neighborhoods, away from the overwhelming tourist crowds yet conveniently connected to the city’s major attractions. Cannaregio, the northernmost of Venice’s six historic sestieri (districts), presents visitors with a glimpse into authentic Venetian life, where locals go about their daily routines amidst picturesque canals and historic architecture. The Santa Fosca area specifically places guests near the charming Strada Nuova, a main thoroughfare lined with shops, cafés, and restaurants, making Hotel Tintoretto an excellent base for both exploration and relaxation.
Hotel Tintoretto’s strategic location offers guests the best of both worlds – tranquility and accessibility. Within walking distance, visitors can discover the historic Jewish Ghetto, the oldest in the world, with its moving synagogues and Jewish Museum. The magnificent Ca’ d’Oro palace, with its stunning Gothic façade and art collection, is also nearby. Water buses (vaporetti) are easily accessible, connecting guests to iconic landmarks such as St. Mark’s Square, the Rialto Bridge, and the Grand Canal within minutes. For those seeking cultural experiences, the hotel’s proximity to the Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art and the natural history museum at Fondaco dei Turchi provides enriching options. After a day of exploration, guests can retreat to Hotel Tintoretto, where the bustling tourist crowds give way to the authentic rhythm of Venetian life. The 8.0 rating reflects guests’ satisfaction with this balance of location, comfort, and value – high praise in a city where accommodations often come with premium price tags.
The Cannaregio district itself deserves special mention as one of Venice’s most captivating areas. Unlike the more tourist-heavy San Marco or San Polo districts, Cannaregio retains much of its original character. Here, narrow canals are lined with traditional trattorias serving authentic Venetian cuisine, local bars offering spritz and cicchetti (Venetian tapas), and artisan shops where time-honored crafts are still practiced. The famous Venetian painter Tintoretto, after whom the hotel is named, was born in this very district, adding a layer of cultural significance to your stay. As evening falls, the neighborhood transforms, with locals gathering along the Fondamenta della Misericordia and Fondamenta dei Ormesini for aperitivo, creating an atmosphere that perfectly captures the essence of Venetian social life. Hotel Tintoretto, with its solid 8.0 rating, provides not just a place to sleep but a genuine window into the soul of Venice – a city where history, art, and daily life intertwine along picturesque canals and ancient cobblestone streets. Whether you’re a first-time visitor eager to explore Venice’s famous landmarks or a returning traveler seeking to delve deeper into the city’s authentic character, Hotel Tintoretto offers a welcoming haven in one of Venice’s most captivating districts.

Quaint old building remodeled inside. On a piazza and canal.

Good, decent breakfast,
What could be improved: It was all fineAndrew from Austria – 31 January 2025 (8/10)
Solid, comfortable, loud being right next to the canal.

Hotel is very central, there is a bit of noise in the morning but this is Venice and people have to work, but hey ho it did not put me off @ all there is walking involved to get you to the main parts, but I would wholeheartedly say go explore as that’s the beauty of it. Around every little corner there is something new. The rustic look of the whole area for me was exactly how I wanted to see it.
What could be improved: Pack mossy spray as those little critters get ya!Steven from United Kingdom – 26 July 2024 (9/10)
Helpful staff throughout stay. Prior to vist we asked questions about accessibility and although their stair lift had broken they arranged to get it fixed on the day we arrived.
The hotel was clean and well maintained.
The breakfast was good.
We would definitely return!
What could be improved: Nothing really.Janet from United Kingdom – 11 July 2024 (7/10)
Quirky old hotel off the main tourist area. We stayed in the annexe across the road. Our family room had a beamed ceiling and was comfortable. Friendly staff gave us a warm welcome. Good breakfast buffet.
What could be improved: The electric sockets were challenging- especially trying to get the kettle plug to work. We had to reconfigure the room to make it more manageable. The tea/milk/stirrers were not replaced nor the shower gel. Fortunately we had brought our own.Leanne from South Africa – 10 June 2024 (9/10)
Great location. All major attractions are within walking distance. Please note that there is no elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage to your room. On arrival we were "upgraded" due to 3 persons staying in the room. We were in room 102 (first floor) with canal view. The room was spacious and well appointed. Note that you are on the water so there are mosquitoes. It wasn't terrible, but I prefer fresh air and therefore had the windows open during the late afternoons/mornings. Mosquito repellant is provided. Bring cream if you do tend to get bitten to avoid the itch. The food in the morning was perfect. Perfect selection of a continental breakfast with coffee from the machine – magic! Breakfast is only served from 07:45 am, although there is a bit of a selection available earlier if you have an earlier tour booked. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel which offers discounts on their foods. We never tried it but it was busy with locals so must be a favourite. Overall, I would definitely recommend the hotel.
What could be improved: Everything was as expected after reading reviews and seeing images, so there was no surprise.Judith from Australia – 5 June 2024 (8/10)
Hotel was not too far from the railway station.
The room was light, airy and quiet.
I had breakfast outside!
What could be improved: The hotel was not in just one building.
Breakfast area was a bit squishy.Nikolay from Bulgaria – 25 November 2023 (8/10)
Location, the staff and window view.
The breakfast was good.
What could be improved: Every day the breakfast is the same.Jennifer from United States – 29 June 2023 (9/10)
The hotel was easy to get to, the staff was friendly and efficient, and they allowed us to leave our luggage before check-in. Our room was at the annex across from the hotel. It was easy to get to. The room was small but suited our needs for one night. Everything in Venice was easily accessible by foot from our room. It was a great stay.
