Junior Suites Venezia Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Junior Suites Venezia on the quiet island of Torcello, you immediately sense you’ve found something different from the typical Venice hotel experience. This three-star property sits tucked away on Via Borgognoni, and honestly, the peaceful atmosphere hits you right away — it’s such a contrast to the bustling crowds you’ll find around San Marco. The building has that understated Venetian charm without trying too hard, and I mean, when you’re staying on an island that most tourists never even make it to, you know you’re in for something special.

The Island Location

Here’s what I love about Torcello — it’s where Venice began, but hardly anyone knows that. You’re staying on this historically significant island that’s home to maybe 20 permanent residents, ancient Byzantine mosaics at the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, and walking paths that actually let you breathe. The vaporetto ride from the main islands takes about 45 minutes, which sounds like a hassle until you realize it’s actually perfect for couples (no wonder they rate the location 8.8 for romantic trips). You get all the Venice magic without the selfie sticks and cruise ship crowds.

The Accommodations

The suites themselves are thoughtfully designed — not huge, but they use the space well with separate sleeping and sitting areas that actually make sense. What struck me most was how quiet everything is; you can open your windows at night and hear… well, pretty much nothing except maybe water lapping against the dock. The rooms have a clean, contemporary feel while keeping some traditional Venetian touches, and the bathrooms are modern enough that you won’t miss home. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself lingering over morning coffee instead of rushing out to sightsee.

Getting Around

Now, let’s be real about the logistics — you’re not going to pop back to your room for a quick nap between museum visits. But that’s actually part of what makes this work so well. You plan your days differently, maybe spending mornings exploring the main islands and afternoons back on Torcello, walking to Attila’s Throne or just sitting by the canal with a book. The vaporetto connections are reliable (line 12 from Fondamenta Nove), and there’s something romantic about that evening boat ride back to your peaceful island retreat.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.5 rating really reflects what this place does best — it gives you an authentic slice of Venetian life that most visitors never experience. Couples especially seem to get it; there’s something about having your own quiet corner of the lagoon that makes the whole Venice experience feel more intimate and less like you’re checking items off a tourist list. You’re close enough to reach everything that matters in Venice, but far enough away to remember why you fell in love with the idea of visiting in the first place. It’s not for everyone — if you need to be in the thick of things every minute, stay in San Marco. But if you want to actually relax and soak in the magic of the lagoon, Junior Suites Venezia delivers something pretty special.

Reviews of Junior Suites Venezia

  • Rebecca from Austria – 15 March 2025 (9/10)

We had a very pleasant stay on Torcello. Although the host, Alessandro, was not there in person, he was always available and helpful. Everything worked out very well and he was very friendly. The room had a beautiful view, and the ferry connections were easy and worked smoothly.
There is also a tavern on the ground floor where you can enjoy good regional food and a great coffee.
A great option for a quiet stay near Venice.

  • Bettina from United States – 30 September 2024 (9/10)

Very clean and rich breakfast. Staff always ready to answer your questions.

  • Krzysztof from Poland – 26 September 2024 (9/10)

Beautiful silent place, far away from crowded centre of Venice.
    Tasty breakfast.
    Very helpful staff.

    What could be improved: –

  • Heili from Estonia – 25 September 2024 (8/10)

Clean room and quiet environment. Loved that these was so much natural light and that the windows could be kept open all the time.
Also, a nice selection of breakfast items.

What could be improved: There's some specific smell in the bathroom which I assume is the drainage, but nothing too bad at all.
The only uncomfortable part is the thin (or just wooden) floors/ceilings, which means you hear everything that is happening on the floor above you and it really gets quite squeaky and noisy when people walk around.
Also, I would mention that the photos of the colorful houses are all from Burano island, not Torcello. I guess I was a bit mislead by that 🙂

  • Jingchen from China – 18 September 2024 (9/10)

Very helpful staff, fast wifi as stated, quiet location so I can work as at home. Breakfast included but there is more than breakfast in the fridge, got surprised of the white wine in the bottle, we thought it was just another kind of juice😅

  • Olivia from United Kingdom – 14 September 2024 (9/10)

It was spotlessly clean. The facilities were just perfect. Breakfast was amazing. The little balcony so cute to sit out at night. Highly recommended this gem….. you feel like you are on your own private island at night. So peaceful and relaxing.

  • Natalie from United Kingdom – 4 June 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: Distance from the airport was a pain other than that everything was great
