But once you step inside this three-star apartment, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something pretty special. The space feels authentically Venetian without trying too hard, and there’s this lived-in charm that makes you want to kick off your shoes and stay awhile.

You know what’s crazy about Campo Santo Stefano? Most tourists rush right through it on their way to St. Mark’s Square, but this is actually one of Venice‘s most beautiful campos. I mean, you’re literally surrounded by centuries of history, and the morning light hitting those old facades is something else. The location score of 9.9 isn’t just marketing fluff — you can walk to the Rialto Bridge in about eight minutes, hit the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in five, and honestly, St. Mark’s is so close you’ll probably end up there accidentally.

Living Like a Local

What I love about Stefano 4 is that it actually feels like someone’s home rather than a sterile hotel room. The kitchen is properly equipped — not just some sad mini-fridge situation — so you can grab fresh ingredients from the Rialto market and cook dinner while watching the evening light dance across the campo below. The furnishings are a mix of traditional Venetian pieces and modern comfort, which sounds like it shouldn’t work but somehow does perfectly.

The Neighborhood Vibe

Campo Santo Stefano has this wonderful rhythm to it that you start picking up after a day or two. Early morning, it’s all locals grabbing coffee and heading to work. By evening, the campo fills with people meeting friends, kids playing football (until someone inevitably kicks the ball into the canal), and that perfect golden hour light that makes everything look like a Renaissance painting. There’s a decent restaurant right on the campo if you don’t feel like cooking, and the wine bar stays open late enough for a proper nightcap.

Couples absolutely rave about this place, and I get why — there’s something romantic about having your own little Venetian hideaway in such a prime spot.   La localisation de l’appartement était absolument géniale. À proximité des grandes attractions de Venise, sur une place animée mais très calme la nuit.
  L’appartement est bien équipé, spacieux, pratique et un guide complet en plusieurs langues donne toutes les informations utiles pour les accommodations d’usage.
  
  What could be improved: Souci mineur pour nous mais qui peut avoir son importance pour d’autres, le wifi ne fonctionnait pas correctement, et il était même inexistant dans la partie chambres. Peut-être un souci juste temporaire ?
  La salle de bains dégageait une forte odeur d’égouts très peu agréable. Même avec la porte fermée, l’odeur se faisait sentir dans l’appartement. Peut-être également un souci temporaire mais assez incommodant pour nous pendant le séjour.

  Es war sehr nett eingerichtet und sauber. Vor allem die Lage ist sehr schön. Café, Restaurants, Lebensmittelgeschäft um die Ecke und mit Blick auf dem Platz.
  
  What could be improved: Am Anfang die hohen Stufen zur Wohnung, aber wir haben uns daran gewöhnt.

  Great location of the apartment! Very close to the city centre, quite convenient from the boat station from the airport (San Angello). The host was very nice and always stayed in touch.
  
  What could be improved: Be aware of the stairs if you travel with luggage. It was a bit hard to climb up the stairs but it’s usual for Venice overall.

  What could be improved: Noise. We were very unlucky to have some loud neighbors who we could hear until the 5am.
  There was a constant loud banging noise throughout the night coming from outside the rear of the apartment.

  What could be improved: We were in Loccapart 3 as the owners advised us they double booked . Poor ! No TV set as in the description . The agent advised Govt . had done something and it wouldnt work then bought us one the size of a PC monitor which did not work . We stayed lots in Italy all with TV ! Shower was hanging off wall with one support broken off . Never got into the bedroom closet . The 48 stairs up begin with 20 most dangerous ones . No mini stereo as advertised . A coffee pod machine needed .
