I stumbled upon the Nice & Cozy apartment during a solo trip to Venice last spring, and honestly, it was one of those finds that makes you rethink the whole “stay in San Marco” vibe. Tucked away on Campo Junghans in Giudecca – you know, that long, skinny island just across the canal from Dorsoduro – it’s got this peaceful, almost locals-only feel. I mean, getting there from the airport was a breeze with the vaporetto from Piazzale Roma; hop on line 4.1, and you’re docking at Palanca stop in about 20 minutes. No lugging suitcases over endless bridges like in the main tourist crush. The address is 488 Campo Junghans, and when I arrived, the host was waiting with keys and a quick rundown – super low-key, no fancy lobby drama. The building itself is this charming old Venetian structure, with those weathered brick walls and a tiny courtyard that smells faintly of saltwater and fresh laundry drying in the breeze. Oh, and fair warning: it’s on the second floor with stairs, so if you’re packing heavy, well, pack lighter next time like I should’ve.

What really won me over, though, was how it lives up to the name – nice and cozy, but in a way that feels authentically Venetian, not some staged Airbnb setup. The place is spotless, with high ceilings and big windows overlooking the campo (that’s the little square out front, where kids play soccer in the evenings and you can hear church bells from the nearby Redentore). I spent mornings sipping espresso on the balcony, watching the light bounce off the Giudecca Canal – it’s quieter here than you’d expect, especially compared to the nonstop gondola traffic over by the Rialto. The apartment’s got all the essentials: a full kitchen with a surprisingly powerful stove (I whipped up some pasta with clams from the market at Sacca Fisola, just a short walk away), comfy beds that actually let you sleep through the night without that creaky hotel mattress nonsense, and even a washer-dryer combo, which saved me after a rainy day exploring. There’s Wi-Fi that’s fast enough for streaming, and the bathroom’s got this heated towel rack – a small luxury when Venice gets chilly in the off-season. That said, it’s not huge; if you’re traveling with a big group, it might feel snug, but for a couple or solo like me, it’s perfect. And noise-wise? Mornings can have some boat horns from the canal, but by night, it’s blissfully silent – no rowdy bar crowds spilling out like in Campo Santa Margherita.

Look, if you’re the type who wants Venice without the overwhelming chaos, this spot’s a gem. With a 9.8 rating, it’s no surprise – I’ve stayed in pricier places near St. Mark’s that felt sterile by comparison. Giudecca gives you that real neighborhood rhythm: grab gelato at the little spot near the Hilton Molino Stucky (yeah, it’s fancy, but their pistachio is killer), or wander to the vaporetto for a quick ride to the Biennale gardens. It’s not flawless – parking’s nonexistent unless you leave your car on the mainland, and check-in times are strict – but honestly, for the value and that cozy, lived-in charm, I’d book it again in a heartbeat. Venice can be exhausting, but waking up here? It sort of resets you, you know?

  I can highly recommend this place. Alessia was very attentive, communicating with her was easy and she was genuinely interested in her guest's wellbeing. The apartment has been newly renovated, impeccably clean and the bed was very comfortable to sleep in. This is a safe neighborhood with nice restaurants and a supermarket just around the corner. My stay was a 10+, I would definitely return!

  The apartment was very nice, quiet and very well kept. The location was great, as it was quieter than the busier part of Venice. We enjoyed it as we were able to experience more of how the locals live. You do have to take the water bus back and forth from the apartment to San Marco, etc. in Venice but it was fairly easy! The apartment does have quite a bit of stairs, would not recommend for those who require accessibility as it does not have an elevator. Alessia was amazing, she recommended great restaurants and other things to do.
