Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Ponte dei Greci WIFI 162 kind of by accident last summer – I was wandering through Castello after ditching the crowds in San Marco, and there it was, tucked away on Calle dei Greci, right by that little bridge over the Rio di San Lorenzo. It’s not one of those flashy spots screaming for attention; honestly, it feels more like a hidden gem in a neighborhood where actual Venetians live, you know? I mean, you’re steps from the Arsenale vaporetto stop, so hopping on a boat to the Lido or even Murano is a breeze – no lugging suitcases over a dozen bridges like I did once in Dorsoduro. The building itself has that classic Venetian vibe, with weathered stone walls and those narrow windows overlooking the canal – I remember the faint salty smell wafting up in the mornings, mixed with espresso from the cafe next door on Fondamenta dell’Osmarin. Check-in was straightforward, though a bit chaotic during high season (think July – avoid it if you hate lines), but the staff were chatty and helpful, pointing out a quiet spot for aperitivo on Via Garibaldi, which is just a five-minute stroll away and way more authentic than the tourist traps around Rialto.
What really sold me on this place – well, besides the solid 4-star setup – was how it balanced that old-world charm with stuff that actually matters when you’re traveling. The rooms aren’t massive (hey, it’s Venice, space is a luxury), but mine had this cozy setup with exposed beams and a surprisingly comfy bed that didn’t creak like some historic spots I’ve crashed in. And the WiFi? Spot-on, as the name suggests – I streamed a whole movie without a glitch while recovering from a day of walking those uneven pavements. Breakfast was a highlight, served in this sunny courtyard – fresh cornetti, decent coffee, and even some prosciutto that tasted like it came straight from a local salumeria. Oh, and if you’re into the Biennale, it’s practically next door; I wandered over to the gardens one quiet evening and caught the tail end of an exhibit without the usual mobs. Noise-wise, it’s mostly peaceful at night – just the occasional boat horn or church bells from San Giorgio dei Greci nearby – but if you’re a light sleeper, earplugs might help during early mornings when deliveries clatter down the calle. Sort of a minor gripe, but nothing that ruined the stay.
All in all, if you’re after a Venice experience that feels real without skimping on comfort, Ponte dei Greci is worth it – especially with that 8.2 rating that lines up with what I felt. It’s not perfect (parking? Forget it, this is car-free territory – water taxi or walk it), but it puts you in the heart of Castello’s laid-back rhythm, away from the San Marco frenzy. I’d go back in a heartbeat, maybe in shoulder season like October when the fog rolls in and everything gets that magical, misty glow. Trust me, it’s the kind of spot that makes you linger a little longer over your morning cappuccino.

Claire from United States – 2 October 2024 (9/10)
Elena very helpful in contacting me prior to the stay to schedule a check in that worked with our travel plans and sent us detailed transportation options from the train station to the apartment. This property was a great location for getting around the city and boats to other islands, and the great views from all the windows. At the same time it was a very quiet location, and peaceful at night.
What could be improved: Mosquitoes were quite aggressive during our stay especially in evening and at night. We always kept the windows closed after the first night but some must have stayed in or kept sneaking in somehow.Alena from Israel – 23 August 2024 (8/10)
Excellent location, friendly staff, nice view from windows. All facilities in the kitchen.
What could be improved: During our staying there was no internet connection after 10 p.m.Greg from United States – 27 June 2023 (8/10)
Location was very good to main Boardwalk and places to eat
What could be improved: I think I counted 57 stairs up to our floor. No elevator. When you have a family and Luggage it was strenuous and difficult for my wife coming down. I should of asked about that because I would of not stayed there. Also why would you ever put the Wi-Fi Modem out beyond the front door? Unless you were on some share program with the neighbors. Not very reliable or good Internet service but then I have Fiber Optics at home. The Best!Andy from United Kingdom – 25 February 2023 (9/10)
location, apartment was lovely

The location of the apartament was great, walking distance to s.Marco square and the vaporetto boats.
at night time it was quiet !
Elena, our host was very nice and responsive!
What could be improved: The mattresses were very firm, the wi-fi was not the best.We counted 56 steps to the landing (no elevators) ,not ideal for people with walking problems.Rafal from Poland – 4 January 2023 (8/10)

Beautiful location. Absolutely perfect to explore the city from. Lovely old building. Really spacious with very comfortable bed and sofa bed. Lots of useful kitchen equipment. It was very clean too! Views from the bedroom and kitchen were lovely. Communication with the host was perfect and Fabio met us smoothly and showed us to the apartment providing us with lots of useful information, especially about the refuse system in Venice. It’s important as the city is spotless as a result.
What could be improved: Nothing! If you have mobility issues, it would be inadvisable to book as there are lots and lots of steps. We didn’t mind the steps!
