Residenza Centopietre – Dorsoduro by Wonderful Italy Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow streets of Dorsoduro to find Residenza Centopietre – Dorsoduro by Wonderful Italy feels like discovering a hidden gem that most tourists completely miss. The building sits on this tiny campiello — honestly, you might walk past it twice before spotting the entrance. But that’s exactly what makes it special. This three-star property doesn’t try to be flashy or grand like some of the hotels near San Marco, and I actually prefer it that way.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what’s brilliant about staying in Venice here? Dorsoduro is where Venetians actually live and work, not just where they pose for tourist photos. I mean, you’re still close enough to all the major sights — the Peggy Guggenheim Collection is practically around the corner, and you can walk to the Rialto Bridge in about fifteen minutes. But in the evenings, when the day-trippers head back to the mainland, this area becomes wonderfully quiet. There are these little bacari (wine bars) tucked into corners that you’d never find unless you were staying in the neighborhood, and the morning markets feel authentic rather than performative.

The Accommodation

The apartment setup here works really well if you want more space than a typical hotel room offers. Each unit has its own character — some have those classic Venetian beamed ceilings, others have views over the campiello where you can watch daily life unfold below. The kitchen facilities are basic but functional, which comes in handy when you want to grab fresh ingredients from the Rialto market and have a simple meal without restaurant prices. The furnishings feel comfortable rather than precious — you’re not afraid to actually use the space, if you know what I mean.

Practical Considerations

Getting here with luggage isn’t terrible, but it’s not exactly easy either — welcome to Venice, right? The nearest vaporetto stop is Zattere, which is about a five-minute walk through those narrow streets. Once you figure out the route (and trust me, GPS gets confused in Venice), it becomes second nature. The staff from Wonderful Italy are responsive when you need them, though this isn’t the kind of place where someone’s hovering in a lobby 24/7. They’ll meet you for check-in and sort out any issues, but otherwise you’re pretty independent.

Why Guests Love It

Couples seem to really connect with this place — there’s something romantic about having your own little corner of Venice, away from the crowds but still in the heart of everything. The location score speaks for itself, honestly. You’re in one of the best neighborhoods in the city, surrounded by art galleries, quiet campos, and those canal views that never get old. It’s the kind of place where you can imagine living like a local for a few days, shopping at the neighborhood bakery and finding your own favorite spot along the Zattere promenade for an evening spritz.

Reviews of Residenza Centopietre – Dorsoduro by Wonderful Italy

  • Willow from United Kingdom – 16 March 2025 (7/10)

    location and cleanliness

What could be improved: the bathroom being separate from room felt uncomfortable using it knowing we could bump into people

  • Amy from United Kingdom – 22 June 2024 (8/10)

Bed was very comfy, aircon and WiFi were amazing. Location was a perfect spot for everything and was all round a really nice place to stay, really made our stay in venice stress free and easy.

What could be improved: Shower head and stand could do with a little TLC but that is me being very picky. Would definitely stay again.

  • Alec from United States – 28 May 2024 (7/10)

The location was nice and quiet with plenty of restaurants nearby. It was about a 10-minute walk from the Ca' Rezzonico water bus stop and 15 minutes to St. Mark's. Google Maps took us right to the front door. The room was spacious and clean, with a nice bathroom. No problems with AC or hot water. The host was easily accessible and let us store our luggage in the common room on our departure day.

  • Roger from Italy – 13 May 2024 (8/10)

Very comfortable and clean. Met all my needs.

What could be improved: A bit anxious about the process of renting. Some small confusion about paying and getting access information.

  • Maria from United Kingdom – 4 March 2024 (7/10)

    Location, clean, confortable.

    What could be improved: Pillows

The closeness to the main attractions. the room is clean and warm, and it is cozy. I loved the experience.

    What could be improved: mosquitoes

  • Stephanie from United Kingdom – 10 December 2023 (8/10)

Really good communication from the accommodation re directions and gaining access – all of which was contactless. We stayed in the Cotton Room which was a bedroom and bathroom. Ample room for a couple and for a base to sleep. Plenty of room for hanging clothes (maybe about 6 or so hangers). Nice and warm in the winter too (and seems to be air con for the summer). Quiet part of the city with a fantastic bakery just round the corner with gorgeous croissants and good coffee. Very close to the Academia waterbus stop and About a 20 min walk from the bus station. There is a common area with a fridge with designated shelves for each room if you need it.
Really only very minor issues and its just more for info – it advertises a coffee machine – but there arnt any pods to use the machine and no instant coffee (but there is tea bags) available (but as I say, gorgeous bakery just round the corner so can't say this bothered us too much).
All in all a great base for a good price!

  • Adriana from Romania – 19 November 2023 (8/10)

Location was very easy to find.
The room was very big and clean, the bathroom large.
    They warm up the room.

What could be improved: Please, warm up the room all the nights!
It was cold second night, I slept with extra clothes.

  • Christiaan from Netherlands – 6 November 2023 (8/10)

What could be improved: The common room should have plates or something. It is impossible to eat at the location. While there is a very nice dining room… could be improved.
