There’s an intimate scale here that I really appreciated, especially after seeing how crowded some of the bigger properties can get around San Marco.

Here’s what I love about staying in Dorsoduro — you’re still central to everything, but it feels more like where actual Venetians live and work. Rio Carmini Venezia capitalizes on this perfectly with its 9.8 location score, which honestly doesn’t surprise me at all. You can walk to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in about five minutes, and the Accademia Bridge is just a pleasant stroll away. But what really sold me was how easy it is to duck into local bacari (those tiny wine bars) that tourists in other areas never discover. The Campo Santa Margherita, with its lively evening scene, is practically around the corner.

The Rooms and Comfort

The accommodations at Rio Carmini Venezia strike that sweet spot between authentic character and modern comfort. My room had those classic Venetian touches — think terrazzo floors and period furniture — but everything actually worked properly, which isn’t always a given in Venice’s older buildings. The bathrooms are updated without feeling sterile, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet things stayed at night. You know how sound can carry in these old palazzos, but the rooms here are well-insulated from both street noise and neighboring guests.

Daily Rhythms

Mornings here feel genuinely Venetian rather than touristy. The breakfast setup is straightforward but satisfying — fresh pastries, good coffee, and you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling rushed. What I really appreciated was how the staff knew the neighborhood inside and out. They pointed me toward a fantastic osteria that I never would have found otherwise, and gave me the real scoop on which vaporetto stops to use depending on where I was headed. It’s that kind of local knowledge that makes a difference when you’re trying to navigate Venice efficiently.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.9 rating really reflects what couples discover here — it’s romantic without being overly precious about it. There’s something about the combination of the peaceful Dorsoduro setting and the hotel’s intimate scale that just works for romantic getaways.   We had a great stay for New Year's Eve. Fantastic location that is close to everything, but in a quieter neighborhood that is more locals vs. tourists. The apartment is spacious with plenty of space for a family of four. It was well stocked, very clean, and quiet.
  
  The host, Marco, was extremely responsive to our requests. We would definitely stay there the next time we go to Venice.

  Only sheets on the bed. But found duvets without linen covers in the wardrobes so not too big of an issue.

  The apartment was spacious and was great for my family of 4. The apartment is located in Dorsoduro and was a nice escape from all the crowds. It’s located near a large square which was very nice. Plenty of cafes, restaurants etc to choose from
  
  What could be improved: I didn’t like that there was no coffee provided. There was a Nespresso machine but no pods. Some water upon arrival would have been a nice touch. Other than that I had no complaints.

  Great location, spacious clean apartment on the first floor.
  Overall facilities were excellent, from the easy self check-in to our departure.
  
  Good cooking & dining area & two large sofas for lounging. Comfy beds.
  
  Washing machine, tumble drier, clothes horse, iron, ironing board all supplied.
  
  Each room was soundproofed!!
  
  What could be improved: A book to explain the workings of everything would have been great.
  
  TV didn’t work at all, unfortunately.
  In addition, main electricity trip switch went twice, an awkward & inconvenient fix.
  
  Hand soap & a detergent tablet or two would also have been appreciated, though dishwasher tabs were supplied.
  
  Would not let any of these stop me staying again!!
