Sogno di Giulietta e Romeo Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Sogno di Giulietta e Romeo feels like stepping into someone’s elegant Venetian home — which, honestly, is exactly what you want when you’re staying in Venice. This three-star boutique hotel sits right on Campo San Cassiano in San Polo, and I mean right there where the action is but without the tourist chaos. The building itself has that weathered charm you see all over Venice, but inside it’s been thoughtfully updated without losing any of its character.

The Perfect San Polo Location

You know what I love about this spot? You’re actually living like a local here in San Polo. Campo San Cassiano has this wonderful neighborhood feel — there’s a little campo (square) right outside where kids play football and locals chat. The Rialto Market is just a few minutes’ walk, which means you can grab fresh produce and watch the morning fish auction if you’re up early enough. Plus, you’re close enough to all the major sights but far enough away that you won’t be fighting crowds every time you step outside your door.

The Rooms

My room had these gorgeous original beamed ceilings and windows that looked out onto the campo — honestly, I spent way too much time just watching Venice wake up each morning. The decor strikes this nice balance between traditional Venetian style and modern comfort. Nothing too fancy, but everything works well and feels authentic. The bathrooms are compact (this is Venice, after all), but they’ve made good use of the space. What really impressed me was how quiet it was at night, considering you’re right in the heart of the city.

Daily Life at the Hotel

The staff here really knows their stuff about Venice — they gave me restaurant recommendations that I never would have found on my own. Breakfast is served in this lovely little dining area, and while it’s not elaborate, it’s fresh and does the job perfectly. There’s a cozy sitting area where you can plan your day or just relax with a book. I actually ended up chatting with other guests quite a bit, which doesn’t always happen at hotels. The whole place has this intimate, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re staying with friends rather than at some impersonal chain.

Why Guests Love It

This place gets it right for couples especially — there’s something romantic about the whole setup without being overly themed or cheesy. The location really is the star here; you’re positioned perfectly to explore both the touristy bits and the real Venice that most visitors miss. It’s the kind of place where you can duck in for a quick rest between wandering sessions, then head out for dinner at one of the local bacari (wine bars) that the staff will happily point you toward. For the price point, you’re getting authentic Venetian charm and a genuinely helpful team who care about making your stay memorable.

Hotels in Venice perch on Grand Canal bends, quiet sestieri, and private lagoon islands.

Reviews of Sogno di Giulietta e Romeo

  • Hodkinson from Australia – 8 December 2024 (7/10)

    Location was okay.
    Staff were pleasant and helpful
Room was clean , small but what we expected for Europe. Value for money was fabulous.
We were able to leave our luggage after checking out to still explore Venice this was very helpful.
Breakfast was included and was definitely adequate with European standards.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Trevor from Canada – 25 October 2024 (7/10)

Staff were great. Washroom was fantastic. Breakfast was superb!!!

What could be improved: Mattress reminded me of a time I slept on a floor. We booked on very short notice so our suite may have been all they had available.

  • Hussam from United States – 20 August 2024 (8/10)

The hotel looks like a museum

What could be improved: Breakfast starts at 8:30 am

  • Maximus from Australia – 8 August 2024 (8/10)

Great location nice and quiet. The cleaning lady was very nice and impressively managed a range of duties, from cleaning to handling reception tasks.

What could be improved: The owner's absence created some inconvenience for us. Additionally, despite my foot being fractured, we were not allowed to use the handicapped chair lift for our luggage, forcing us to carry it up several flights of stairs.

  • Gelly from United Kingdom – 17 July 2024 (8/10)

The location was very spot on, it was very quiet at nighttime

What could be improved: There wasnt enough plug sockets around the room to charge your electronics

  • Jane from United Kingdom – 16 June 2024 (8/10)

The staff were great, helpful and friendly. The only problem was there was a bar outside under our room so we changed rooms next day. We had to pay an extra £100 for our 3 night stay. There was nothing to say a bar was there. It wasn’t noisy but you could hear people talking. In the blurb, it says the rooms are soundproof which is why we went for it. They aren’t.

What could be improved: Nothing except for noise from bar outside.

  • Christophe from France – 13 May 2024 (9/10)

Room was perfect, location is very close to Rialto but in a easy to access place and way more quiet. Perfect place to visit Venezia !

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Michael from United States – 21 April 2024 (8/10)

Large bedroom and bathroom overlooking a noisy plaza.
