Suite Dream on the River Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of Castello to find Suite Dream on the River, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in modest packages. This little gem sits tucked away on Calle dell’Arco, and the moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here. The entrance feels more like walking into a friend’s well-appointed home than a typical hotel lobby.
Location Magic
Here’s the thing about Venice — location is absolutely everything, and Suite Dream nailed it. You’re right in Castello, which means you get that authentic Venetian neighborhood feel without the crushing crowds of San Marco. I mean, you can walk to St. Mark’s Square in about ten minutes, but you’re far enough away that you can actually breathe. The couples who stay here clearly get it — they’ve rated the location 9.5, and honestly, I can see why. There’s something romantic about wandering back through these quiet canals at night, knowing you’ve got a cozy place waiting for you.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — and I actually appreciated that they didn’t try to cram unnecessary furniture into the space. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for a three-star property, and the bathroom, while small, had everything you need. What really impressed me was the attention to cleanliness and the little touches like decent lighting for reading. The windows open onto the canal side, and if you’re lucky enough to get a water view, well — that’s when you realize why this place scores so highly with guests.
Neighborhood Discoveries
One of the best parts about staying here is discovering the Castello district itself. There’s this fantastic local bacaro just two minutes away where the cicchetti are incredible (and the prices won’t make you wince). The morning walks to grab coffee become part of the whole experience — you’ll find yourself taking different routes through the maze of bridges and discovering corners of Venice that most tourists never see. It’s the kind of location where you start feeling like a temporary local rather than just another visitor.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Suite Dream on the River isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works so well. The 9.2 rating speaks for itself — this is a place that consistently delivers on its promises without any pretense. You get a clean, comfortable base in one of Venice’s most authentic neighborhoods, run by people who clearly understand what travelers actually need. For couples especially, there’s something perfect about having this quiet retreat to return to after days spent exploring the city’s wonders. It’s proof that sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that simply do the basics exceptionally well.
To book hotel in Venice for Carnival, travelers reserve palazzo suites overlooking mask-lined canals.

Good location and facility. Good communication with the owner.
What could be improved: Apartment is a bit dark. We felt humidity in the apartment, but maybe because appartment was next to the water.Nikoletta from Greece – 7 November 2023 (8/10)
We loved that the window looked out on the canal. It was wonderful to drink our coffee and watch the boats go by!
What could be improved: The only thing we didn't like was the day before we left. The cleaning lady came, rang the bell once, and before we could open, she entered with her own keys. At that time we were not dressed and it was awkward trying to get ready so quickly. That's why I don't put all the stars. Otherwise everything was great!Margarita from Switzerland – 19 October 2023 (10/10)
The location is excellent, very central and quiet. The apartment is right next to a canal and a side street in the ground level. It is small but with enough room for three people. The kitchen was undergoing some maintnance, but everything worked just fine. The communication with Luca, the host, and the check in was easy and quick.
What could be improved: Some lamps make a buzz sound when turned on, so we tried not to use those.
The bed sheets had some rust stains, but seem otherwise clean.Bethany from United Kingdom – 7 September 2023 (8/10)
Great apartment in a fab location. Bed was super comfy! All amenities within the room were great. The host is fantastic, so friendly, helpful, always at hand whenever you need anything! Beautiful little apartment.
What could be improved: Only negative is that there is constant knocking at the door throughout the night. Which we were made aware of on arrival. This did keep me up and made me feel anxious of an evening, sleep disturbances weren’t great. Had I of been with my partner I would have been fine, but as it was myself and a friend it did spoil the trip a little for me.Petar from Serbia – 15 August 2023 (10/10)
It is a very classy, neatly designed small apartment, on a canal in Venice. On the back side you have an access to a courtyard which goes directly out to the canal (I guess this is a boat access), where you can chill and have a nice glass of wine. The location, especially if you are coming for the Biennale, is fantastic. The host is very helpful and polite. The whole stay went uncomplicated and was very pleasant.
What could be improved: I guess the moisture is to be disliked, but if you look around you and realize, that the whole city stands in the sea, it is definitely to be expected. So in fact, I don't really have any complaints.Orhan from Cyprus – 1 July 2023 (10/10)
Clean, modern and good location
What could be improved: Need more hot water at bathroom. When first people take a shower, second person should wait about one hour to take shower with hot water.Leslie from United Kingdom – 23 May 2023 (9/10)
Good choice of restaurants within 5 min walk. 10 mins to St Marks. Apartment had everything needed for a short stay. Happy to recommend!

What could be improved: There's nothing not to likeJoanna from Canada – 10 September 2022 (8/10)
Our host was honestly great. He made great suggestions for restaurants. We were never dissapointed. The room was in a good location, it was neat and big enough for us.
What could be improved: I would maybe add a little place to put the luggage but it's a minor detail.Katherine from United States – 23 July 2022 (10/10)
Great unique place, right on water, so romantic and comfortable. Highly recommend. Have your own water door in Venice. Fantastic beds, kitchen, superb shower. Great friendly hosts.
