Venice Home Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Venice Home on Giudecca island, you immediately sense you’ve found something different from the typical tourist traps across the water. This three-star property sits quietly on one of Venice‘s most authentic islands, where locals actually live and work — honestly, it’s refreshing after dealing with the crowds around San Marco. The building itself has that understated Venetian charm without trying too hard, and you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

The Giudecca Advantage

Here’s the thing about staying on Giudecca — you get incredible views of the main city without the chaos. I mean, couples absolutely love this spot (they rate the location 9.5, which makes total sense), and it’s easy to see why. You’re literally looking back at Venice from across the Giudecca Canal, watching the vaporettos glide by while sipping your morning coffee. The water taxi connections are frequent enough that you never feel stranded, but quiet enough that you can actually hear yourself think. Plus, you’ll discover some genuinely good local spots that most tourists never find.

Your Room and Space

The accommodations here strike that perfect balance between comfort and authenticity. Each room feels thoughtfully arranged rather than cookie-cutter corporate, with enough space to spread out your things without feeling cramped. The windows — and this is important in Venice — actually open properly and let in that amazing lagoon light. You’ll find yourself just sitting by the window in the evening, watching the city lights reflect on the water. It’s not fancy by any stretch, but everything works well and feels genuinely Venetian.

Morning Rituals

Breakfast here is properly Italian, which means you’re getting real espresso and fresh pastries rather than some international buffet nonsense. The buffet setup lets you grab what you want without fuss — cornetti, fresh fruit, good bread, and yes, excellent coffee that actually wakes you up. I particularly appreciated being able to take my time in the morning without rushing to beat crowds to the breakfast restaurant. Starting your day on Giudecca means you can ease into Venice at your own pace rather than being thrown into the tourist whirlwind immediately.

Why Guests Love It

What really works about Venice Home is how it lets you experience Venice like someone who actually lives here, at least partially. You’ll take the vaporetto like a local, discover the island’s quiet campos and authentic bacari, then return each evening to your peaceful retreat. The location score of 9.6 isn’t just numbers — it reflects that rare combination of accessibility and tranquility that’s nearly impossible to find in central Venice. Couples especially seem to get this; there’s something romantic about having your own little corner of the lagoon while still being minutes away from everything that makes Venice magical.

Locals suggest to book apartments in Venice around Cannaregio for artisan glass studios and uncrowded canals.

    She was fabulous

What could be improved: The rain and stormy weather
This was not due to our host and she kept us informed of changes to the weather and what we might wish to do

  • Helena from United States – 30 September 2024 (10/10)

convenient location, easy to find the first time, historic building

  • Ilona from Belgium – 19 September 2024 (10/10)

The best location to stay in Venice, 5 min from vaporetto which goes every 10 min to the city and nearby islands, close to supermarket. Clean and comfortable room, good breakfast.
Host lady is gorgeous, very helpful and kind. Fantastic place to stay for short and long holiday

  • Amanda from United Kingdom – 16 September 2024 (9/10)

Bedroom was good size. I had a double bed. The host lives on the property. She was very hospitabal. Nothing was too much trouble.

The roon had soap, shower gel, towels and is well equipped. Even has a mini fridge. There are plenty of waldrobe and chests to store your clothes.

    Sadly no desk.

Plent of plugs for charging phones etc. Near the vaperetto stop so good for transport. Plenty of restaurants to eat nearby. Hotel is on the main street.

There is a shop nearby selling fuit and veg and also a shop to buy creams etc.

    Neighbourhood is quiet.

Breakfast is between 8.30am to 10am

Room was good size with heater and also air con.

    WiFi worked well

  • Andreas from Sweden – 5 August 2024 (8/10)

This is an excellent little B&B tucked away in a quiet corner of Venice. Signora Laura is very friendly and will do her very best to accommodate you. The breakfast is Italian, naturally, with lovely fresh baked croissants and cappuccinos. My room was perfect for my needs. A comfortable bed and a nice, spotless bathroom. Quite a home away from home.

  • Neil from United Kingdom – 12 July 2024 (10/10)

Very Comfortable and extremely clean. Laura the host was very informative helping us to plan our days and giving us tips. Good communication prior to arriving providing us with instructions to get from airport to hotel easily, and vice-versa. Very friendly and had a good chat each morning.

  • Maria from Ireland – 1 July 2024 (10/10)

Very lovely and clean room & private bathroom. The location is incredible – Giudecca is gorgeous in itself, but it also offers the luxury of enjoying the breath-taking beauty of Venice while being away from the massive crowds on the main island. The host is very thoughtful and caring – loved the chats about Venice had when she was serving me the very scrumptious breakfast!

  • Vildan from Turkey – 21 June 2024 (8/10)

Staff is so kind, quite place, clean room, good location, delicious espresso and yogurt, comfortable bed, fixtures were quite sufficient, like a home.

What could be improved: The room was cold at night but I turned on the air conditioner to warm it up during the night. The window opens to the back, into a space like a building space. because there is almost no sunlight. Also the breakfast is not very good

  • Kresimir from Germany – 27 May 2024 (9/10)

Very nice place at the Giudecca near the Hilton hotel and boat station Palanca. A lovely host serving breakfast with a selection of various things, and not just cornetto (as is usual in Italy).

What could be improved: the hot water doesn't seem to come on tap no matter how long one waits. Fortunately there is hot water in the shower.
