Venice Homes & Holidays Overview
First Impressions
Venice Homes & Holidays isn’t your typical hotel — it’s actually a collection of apartments scattered throughout San Marco, which honestly makes perfect sense once you’re here. I mean, who wants to be stuck in some generic hotel lobby when you could be living like a Venetian right in the heart of the city? The setup is brilliant, really. You get your own space with that authentic Venice feel, and the location score of 9.4 isn’t just marketing fluff — these places are genuinely positioned where you want to be.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying in San Marco through Venice Homes & Holidays — you’re not just near the action, you’re actually in it. Step outside and you’re already surrounded by those narrow alleyways and sudden piazza discoveries that make Venice magical. St. Mark’s Square is practically on your doorstep, but more importantly, you’re close to those little bacari (wine bars) that tourists usually miss because they’re staying out near the train station. The vaporetto stops are right there when you need them, but honestly, you’ll find yourself walking everywhere because the distances are so manageable from these central locations.
The Apartments
Each apartment has its own personality — some overlook quiet canals, others face bustling campos where locals actually do their shopping. The three-star rating feels about right; these aren’t fancy places, but they’re clean, comfortable, and equipped with what you need. You’ll get a proper kitchen (which is gold when you want to grab fresh ingredients from Rialto Market), and the Wi-Fi actually works well. The furnishings feel authentically Venetian without being overly themed, if you know what I mean. Some units have those classic wooden beams overhead, and a few even have tiny balconies where you can have your morning coffee while watching the city wake up.
Living Like a Local
What really sets this apart is how it changes your Venice experience. Instead of rushing back to some hotel before curfew, you’re wandering home through lamplit streets at your own pace. You start recognizing the shopkeepers, figuring out which bakery has the best cornetti, learning the shortcuts that avoid the tourist crowds. There’s something about having your own key to a Venetian door that makes the whole city feel more accessible. Plus, couples seem to really get this — the rating reflects how romantic it feels to have your own little Venice hideaway rather than sharing hotel corridors with tour groups.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.7 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for a three-star price point. It’s not about thread counts or concierge services — it’s about location, location, location, and the freedom that comes with apartment-style living. You’re saving money on meals by cooking some of your own food, you’re experiencing Venice from the inside rather than as an outsider, and you’re staying exactly where the city’s energy is strongest. For couples especially, there’s something incredibly romantic about having your own space in one of the world’s most beautiful cities, even if it’s just for a few nights.
Early hotels booking in Venice secures balcony seats for Vogalonga regattas and torchlit basilica tours.

Location
What could be improved: Very steep steps to the apartment. Not enough towels for the Number of guests.
The key to the apartment door broke in the lock and the owner sought to charge us for replacing the lock saying it was our fault.Marina from Italy – 27 November 2022 (9/10)

Robert from Austria – 21 November 2022 (9/10)
the apartment was very well renovated with very nice details, a perfect room separation, two clean bathrooms and an incredible rooftop terrace. The location near rialto in anuncrowded small street was amazing.
Nicolas from France – 4 September 2022 (9/10)
Ralf from Germany – 20 July 2022 (9/10)
