WellVenice Campiello Overview
First Impressions
You know what strikes you first about WellVenice Campiello? It’s tucked away on this tiny square called Campiello del Forner, and honestly, finding it feels like discovering a secret that most tourists never stumble upon. The three-star property sits in Santa Croce — which I’ll tell you right now is one of those neighborhoods where you actually feel like you’re living in Venice rather than just visiting it. The building itself has that weathered Venetian charm without trying too hard, and there’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel” the moment you walk up.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about this spot — couples absolutely love it here, and after spending time in the area, I totally get why. You’re positioned perfectly between the Rialto Bridge and the train station, which means you can actually walk to most places without getting completely lost in Venice’s maze of streets. The location score of 9.1 isn’t just marketing fluff either; I mean, you’re genuinely in one of the top-rated areas of the city. What’s brilliant is that you’re close enough to San Marco to pop over for dinner, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the crowds of day-trippers every time you step outside your door.
The Neighborhood Feel
Santa Croce has this authentic residential vibe that’s getting harder to find in Venice these days. You’ll notice locals actually live here — there are small grocery shops, neighborhood bars where people stop for their morning coffee, and you’ll see kids playing in the campielli. The Campiello del Forner itself is this charming little square where you might catch neighbors chatting in the evening. It’s the kind of place where you start to understand how Venice works as a real city, not just a museum that happens to have hotels in it.
What Makes It Special
The hotel manages to hit that sweet spot between comfort and character without breaking the bank. You’re not getting five-star amenities, but honestly, when you’re this well-positioned in Venice, you don’t really need them. The staff seems to actually know the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward the good bacari for cicchetti or tell you which vaporetto stop is less crowded during rush hour. These are the kinds of details that make a difference when you’re trying to navigate a city that can feel overwhelming. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, and you get the sense that they’ve put thought into making the space work for travelers rather than just filling it with generic hotel furniture.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.0 rating reflects something you feel pretty quickly — this place just works for people who want to experience Venice properly. Couples especially seem to appreciate having a quiet base where they can retreat from the intensity of the city, but still be close enough to everything that matters. You’re not paying premium prices for a prime location, which in Venice is honestly pretty rare. The combination of being in an excellent neighborhood while maintaining that intimate, local feel is what keeps people coming back and recommending it to friends.

Robin from United Kingdom – 4 March 2025 (9/10)
Very easy to access the keys and use the lock box for going out and about. Felt very secure.
What could be improved: Nothing, it was perfect!Marra from Argentina – 5 January 2025 (9/10)
The apartment is super spacious and comfortable. It is recycled in a very functional and warm way at the same time. It is very well equipped, with every detail in its proper place. It is located 20 min. walking distance from Piazza San Marco, an optimal distance that allows you to see many icons of Venice along the way.
Wayne from Australia – 6 October 2024 (9/10)
The location was quite good, not far away from restaurants & Coffee shops
What could be improved: The amount of stairs, but you have to remember where you are and the age of the buildingsMichelle from Australia – 23 September 2024 (9/10)
The property was stunning ! Christina had thought of everything we could need. She provided a cot for our toddler. Everything was clean. Location was fantastic. Nice quiet area half way between train and main attractions. Christina was very helpful as we had a lot of questions.
What could be improved: The property isn’t ideal if you have a toddler and a lot of luggage as we did . We struggled to get up
3 flights of long stairs and keep the toddler quiet as the neighbours got a little upset with the noise on the way in with all our things. Was all good after we apologised but hard to keep a little one still and quiet.Rowena from Australia – 10 January 2024 (9/10)
Beautiful, modern apartment in central Venice. Easy access to everything. Very clean and comfortable, with flexible sleeping arrangements for four adults and one teenager. The host was excellent in communicating with us. It was one of our favourite apartments to stay in, on our European holiday so far.
What could be improved: Be mindful that you need to carry bags up to the third floor. It was not a problem for us but might be hard for some. Also there are a couple of low beams that tall people need to be careful not to hit their heads on. Again not a problem just a note to be aware of.O'brien from Australia – 30 December 2023 (9/10)
Great location, spacious for family of 6, clean, good facilities, Cristina was a super helpful host.
What could be improved: Nothing I didn't like.Doug from United States – 8 November 2023 (9/10)
Nice sized apartment for 4 people about a 15-minute walk from the train station and another 15-20 minutes from there to St. Mark's…so a wonderful location. Also a very quiet area, which is important to us. It also had a nice sitting area for watching tv.
What could be improved: Not necessarily a negative, but just want to make it clear there is only one fairly small shower, though there are two bathrooms.Xiangyu from Germany – 3 August 2023 (9/10)
The location is great, the apartment has almost everything that one may need for short stay.
Megan from United States – 17 July 2023 (9/10)
Kind hosts, beautiful flat in a historical building, great location (near tourist attractions but still peaceful), and excellent value
Barbara from United States – 28 June 2023 (9/10)
This was a great place to stay. It gave us a taste of what living in an apartment in Venice would be like. The building interior is beautifully restored.
What could be improved: There are 4 bridges to cross (a couple with ramps), which could be a problem if you have difficulty carrying suitcases, and flights of stairs because the apartment is on the top floor.
