Apartment Cafoscari Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of Dorsoduro to reach Apartment Cafoscari, you’ll honestly feel like you’re discovering one of Venice‘s best-kept secrets. This three-star property sits right in the heart of what locals consider the most authentic sestiere — and trust me, that location score of 10.0 isn’t just marketing fluff. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Ca’ Rezzonico, but somehow tucked away from the tourist chaos that overwhelms other parts of the city.
The Dorsoduro Advantage
What I love about staying here is how you get the real Venice experience without sacrificing accessibility. Dorsoduro has this perfect balance — it’s where university students hang out (Ca’ Foscari is right there), artists have their studios, and locals actually live their daily lives. You’ll find yourself wandering past tiny campos where kids play football and elderly Venetians chat on benches. The Zattere promenade is just a few minutes’ walk, and honestly, watching the sunset over the Giudecca Canal from there beats any fancy hotel bar view.
The Space Itself
The apartment setup here really works — especially if you’re planning to stay more than just a night or two. You get that authentic Venetian living experience, complete with original details like exposed beams and traditional terrazzo floors. The kitchen is actually functional (not just decorative like some places), which means you can grab fresh ingredients from the Rialto market and cook at home. The room feels genuinely lived-in rather than sterile, and the windows — well, they open onto views that remind you why people fall in love with this city in the first place.
Getting Around
Here’s something you won’t read in most reviews — the vaporetto stops are perfectly positioned for exploring without the usual crowds. Ca’ Rezzonico stop is your gateway to the Grand Canal, but you’re also close enough to walk to San Marco (about 15 minutes through some gorgeous back streets). The Accademia Bridge is practically around the corner, and crossing it never gets old. Plus, there’s decent parking at Piazzale Roma if you’re driving, though honestly, you won’t need a car once you’re settled in.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.1 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. Couples especially get it — there’s something romantic about having your own little Venetian hideaway rather than just another hotel room. You can make morning coffee and plan your day without rushing to check out, store your groceries, and actually live like a temporary local. The neighborhood has this wonderful evening rhythm where you’ll hear conversations drifting from windows and the gentle sound of water lapping against the fondamenta. It’s Venice as it’s meant to be experienced — not as a museum, but as a living, breathing city where you just happen to be staying in one of the most beautiful spots imaginable.

Reviews of Apartment Cafoscari

Everything was excellent! The location is great, the facilities within the appartment were very good, the hosts were really welcoming and accomodating. They had someone picking us up from the station and walking us to the flat, and giving us usefull information about practicalities (directions, transports, restaurants, bars, trash, etc.).
What could be improved: If I have to find something that can be improved: in the flat there is a book with all the relevant info resumed, but it should be updated, especially the restaurant suggestions.Christine from United Kingdom – 17 December 2024 (10/10)
the location is central to everything we needed. All facilities, restuarents, local attractions were on our door step. The prices were good, the neighbourhood was safe, the people were friendly. The hosts were extremely helpful.

Great location!!! This area is full of nice restaurants, cafes and bars, we absolutely loved it.
Anne was very nice and helpful. The restaurants she recommended to us were definitely 10 out of 10!
Considering accommodation in Venice is anyway very pricy, I can safely say this apartment is a good balance between price and value.
In rush hours you should expect it to be a bit noisy since is located above a restaurant and many people are also walking around. However, we were not bothered at all…
What could be improved: I found the pillows very uncomfortable. But other than that we have nothing negative to share.
The photos in booking.com are a great representation of the apartment and all in all we were happy to be there.John from United Kingdom – 23 April 2024 (9/10)

The host met us at the bus terminal and guided us to the apartment. He gave a guided tour of the local area and made recommendations for eating out and grocery shopping.

What could be improved: nothing, perfect stayAlexander from Israel – 12 March 2023 (9/10)
Anne, the hostess, met us at Piazzale Roma and brought us to the apartment, so the check-in was easy. Anne is very friendly and hospitality she kept for us some compliments like a bottle of wine, cookies, jam, and milk.
The apartment is nice and cozy for two people. The heating works well. The mattress is hard enough, as we like. The kitchen is not rich, but fully equipped. Good quality linen and towels
Good location – not in the tourist center (as far that's possible in Venice), but close enough to it and bus/train station (Piazzale Roma). BTW, don't take trolleys – there are 3 bridges with stairs on the way to the apartment, so a bag/back bag is more applicable.
A lot of restaurants/bars/shops around, every in the same building.
What could be improved: No shampoo/shower gel in the shower (we had to purchase and left it there, so the next guest will have it)
No wine glasses in the kitchen.
Only 4 towels (2 big and 2 small) for two people for one week-long stay
You have to get out your garbage yourself and that's a real procedure – you have to catch a special boot between 6 and 8 AM in a specific place about 4 minutes of walk from the apartment.
The payment is in cash only, so you have to keep a few hundred euros in your pocket.Andrea from Italy – 13 November 2022 (10/10)
Perfectly located and spotless, very kind owners!
