Apartment 2 Overview

First Impressions

Tucked away on a quiet fondamenta in San Polo, Apartment 2 feels more like staying at a friend’s place than checking into a typical hotel. The three-star property sits in one of those charming Venetian buildings where you actually hear the gentle lapping of canal water rather than tourist chatter — which, honestly, is pretty rare to find in Venice these days. When I first walked up, I was struck by how residential the whole area felt, even though you’re literally minutes from major attractions.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about San Polo — it’s got this perfect balance where you’re close enough to everything but far enough from the madness of San Marco. The location really is exceptional (couples seem to agree, rating it 9.0), and I can see why. You’re walking distance to the Rialto Market, which means you can grab fresh produce if you want to cook, plus the Rialto Bridge is just a pleasant stroll away. What I love most is that you can actually get lost in the neighborhood’s winding streets without bumping into cruise ship crowds every few steps.

The Space

The apartment itself has that authentic Venetian charm — exposed beams, traditional furnishings, and windows that open onto views you’d expect from a much pricier place. It’s not huge, but honestly, when you’re in Venice, you’re barely in your room anyway. The setup works well for couples or solo travelers who want a bit more space than your typical hotel room offers. I mean, having a kitchenette is actually pretty handy when you want to make coffee the way you like it or store some of those amazing Italian cheeses you’ll inevitably buy.

Getting Around

One of the best parts about staying here is how walkable everything is — you don’t need to rely on water taxis or vaporettos for every little trip. The nearest vaporetto stop is close enough when you do want to venture to other islands or districts, but you can easily walk to most of Venice’s highlights. I found myself taking different routes each time I headed out, discovering tiny squares and bridges I would’ve missed if I’d been staying in the more touristy areas. The neighborhood has that lived-in feel where you’ll see locals doing their daily shopping and kids playing in the campos.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets Apartment 2 apart is that authentic neighborhood experience — you’re staying where Venetians actually live and work, not in some tourist bubble. The property’s location score of 9.1 isn’t just marketing fluff; it genuinely reflects how well-positioned you are to experience Venice like a local while still having easy access to all the must-see spots. For the price point of a three-star property, you’re getting an experience that feels much more personal and authentic than what you’d find in the heavily trafficked areas around San Marco or near the train station.

Hotels in Venice perch on Grand Canal bends, quiet sestieri, and private lagoon islands.

Reviews of Apartment 2

  • Giannakari from Greece – 4 March 2025 (7/10)

Very good location and quiet, and easy check in. The apartment is big enough for 2-3 people but it is also quite old and could use some renovation, especially the beds and the shower and some cleaning of the walls. There were a lot of electrical devices and hot water all the time. Some more basic hygiene items are needed when 2 people stay for 5 days. (Toilet paper and all purpose-soap were enough only for 2 days, thankfully we had some of our own. The towels -we had only 2 left on the bed. Top bed sheet is also a major need, there was only bottom).

  • Si from Singapore – 17 December 2024 (7/10)

its a nice and fairly convenient spot in the heart of venice so exploring around is so much more convenient. instruction during checkin was clear and we didnt have any problem finding the apartment 🙂
the apartment itself was cozy and a comfortable bed to add.

What could be improved: when we first entered the apartment it smelled very badly of smoke, didnt use the kitchen in the end as we planned when we booked this apartment that came with a kitchen as the equipment didnt feel clean. the second bedroom we kept shut and didnt bother using as it smelled musty and a little of stale urine. otherwise the main bedroom was fine.easy access to dining options and near the waterbus (but u will need to pass 3 set of bridges with stairs)

  • Pamela from Australia – 20 November 2024 (7/10)

Location was very good. The fac that we could use the washer and dryer and cook our own breakfast was really appreciated. The place was clean.

What could be improved: The second bedroom was not great, it didnt look clean and had saggy old bed. Main bedroom was clean and tidy but the bed was saggy also. Towels were dark gray color so you couldnt tell if its clean.

  • Carolina from Colombia – 13 October 2024 (7/10)

The property is in a great location. The AC was great, as well as the rooms. Host was very responsive and picking up the keys is very easy with all the instructions and pics they sent. I was worried about the other reviews but it was a very easy process if you follow instructions. Beds were very comfortable.

What could be improved: The shower in the bathroom looked kind of dirty. As we only stayed one night, we decided not to shower there. Keep in mind the apartment is on the third floor in case you have heavy luggage or mobility inconveniences

  • Katarzyna from Ireland – 18 September 2024 (9/10)

Everything was there as described, location was good. Price was very reasonable

What could be improved: We found the bed to be quite uncomfortable other than that everything was great.

  • Mary from United States – 7 August 2024 (8/10)

This was such a nice place! Quiet, easy access. It's much like an apartment with full kitchen, nice bathroom and comfy beds. Overlooks a pretty courtyard. Seeing Venice is a breeze for this location. And there were fresh roses upon arrival in our room!

  • Sayaka from Mexico – 8 July 2024 (8/10)

The owner of Apertment was very kind.

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Parisa from Canada – 9 June 2024 (2/10)

location is ok. it has potential but it is not well taken care of. not worth the money.

What could be improved: the host wasn't replying back on time, apartment is not clean , key collection was not the easiest and most comfortable. washer dryer was working when we arrived, and the worst things were that the place was so hooot and the host was not replying back in time. Although AC is listed under facilities but apparently there is an extra charge if you want it to be working. PAY ATTENTION to this. The place was so hot that we couldn't sleep at night. Thank GOD we were there only for one night.

  • Katie from United Kingdom – 16 May 2024 (6/10)

The location was great, pretty quiet at night, comprehensive self check in instructions. Good amenities, had a washing machine and dryer.

What could be improved: The shower drain must have been blocked as the shower tray filled up with water very quickly and your feet were underwater whilst showering. The water pressure was also incredibly low, which you can see is because there is a leak in the shower head.

  • Elizabeth from United States – 24 October 2023 (7/10)

This apartment is in a wonderful location to explore Venice. It’s easy to get to the train or bus station and there are so many sites to see close to this apartment. Mario and his partner were very responsive and helped whenever I had a question. the apartment is also very quiet and had wonderful hot water.

What could be improved: Getting into the apartment proved a little difficult. We had to first locate a lockbox which we did with out problem, but then we didn’t have the code for the lockbox and really the lockbox is in a bad position. I was too short to be able to see the numbers, but fortunately, my friend is taller than I am and opened it. the door to get into the apartment building proved a little unwieldy with the keys. It would be nice to have more than one hand towel in the bathroom for two of us for two days, and there was just one kitchen towel. One of the lightbulbs in the kitchen and in the big bedroom was burned out. and it seemed that there was a lot of dirty, or at least smelly, laundry-towels and sheets-in the closets in the big bedroom.
