B&B Casa in Laguna Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of Castello to find B&B Casa in Laguna feels like discovering a secret that locals have been keeping to themselves. This three-star bed and breakfast sits tucked away in what’s honestly one of the best neighborhoods in Venice — and I mean that. The location score of 9.4 isn’t just a number; it’s the result of being perfectly positioned where you can actually breathe without bumping into cruise ship crowds every five steps.
The Castello Advantage
You know what I love about staying in Castello? It’s where Venetians actually live and work, not just pose for Instagram photos. From Casa in Laguna, you’re a pleasant walk to St. Mark’s Square when you want the classic Venice experience, but you can retreat to this quieter sestiere when you need to decompress. The nearby Arsenale area has some fantastic local bars, and honestly, the morning walk to grab coffee feels more authentic than anything you’ll experience near the Rialto Bridge. Couples especially seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.3 for romantic getaways, which makes perfect sense when you’re strolling these less crowded fondamenta at sunset.
Your Morning Routine
The breakfast setup here actually surprised me in the best way. They’ve got this nice mix of continental classics, proper Italian pastries, and a buffet spread that doesn’t feel rushed or picked over. I mean, starting your day with a real Italian cornetto and decent coffee before heading out to explore — that’s half the Venice experience right there. The dining area has this cozy, residential feel that reminds you you’re staying in someone’s carefully curated home rather than a generic hotel chain.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that perfect balance of Venetian character without feeling like a museum piece. You’ll find thoughtful touches that show the owners actually care about your comfort — good lighting for reading, proper storage space (which is rarer than you’d think in Venice), and windows that open to let in that distinctive lagoon breeze. The beds are comfortable enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you wrestled with a gondolier all night, and the bathrooms are modern without losing the building’s historic charm.
Why Guests Love It
Casa in Laguna works because it gets the fundamentals right without trying to be something it’s not. The 8.8 rating reflects what happens when a three-star property focuses on location, cleanliness, and genuine hospitality rather than flashy amenities you probably won’t use anyway. You’re paying for that prime Castello location and the kind of personal attention that makes you feel like a welcomed guest rather than just another booking. Plus, when couples consistently rave about the romantic potential of your neighborhood, you know you’ve found something special in a city that can sometimes feel overwhelmingly touristy.
Hotels in Venice perch on Grand Canal bends, quiet sestieri, and private lagoon islands.

Location great although despite specific street instructions it can be confusing
Marco met us at the water taxi station
He was a great host and helped us navigate to different islands and the train station

Brilliant location – close to Ospedale ferry stop and 15mins walk to St Marks. Marco put on a huge breakfast spread every morning with pastries, fruit, cereals and yoghurt and made wonderful coffees. Sitting out on the balcony relaxing right next to the canal was lovely.
What could be improved: On the weekend there were a few noisy “party” boats in the eveningCarel from Netherlands – 5 October 2024 (9/10)
This place is gem and Marco is a perfect host. Central yet quiet location and close to Ospedale ferry stop, so easy for exploring both the city and the islands of Murano and Burano. The balcony is a bonus! Highly recommended.

This was a fabulous stay in Venice!
Nicely away from the busy streets and the canal was so peaceful. Marco was so kind to meet us when we arrived.
The bed was super comfy and the room was tidied each day. Everything worked as it should in the room. I would recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Venice!

Lovely little b and b. We were in rooms 2 and 3, we were able to shut doors and have a little dining area to ourselves as well. Canal was busy but oh so lovely to have. Away from the touristy hustle and bustle, which for us was perfect. Marco, the host, was great, he allowed us to come a bit early to drop off bags. Helped with ideas and transport to different places. Thank you.

First time visitors to Venice and so glad we stayed at this property. From booking Marco was intouch, advising us on transport from the airport and answering any questions we had. The location is a couple of minutes walk from the boat stop , Marco met us in the square to guide us down to the B n B. The B n B has everything you need, shared kitchen and dining area spotless. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. TV had pre downloaded apps and English. The balcony was perfect for night time drinks before bed and early morning coffees, I loved sitting outside in the morning watching the taxi boats go past and listening to the church bells ringing. Everything was within a 15 minutes walk down some of the cutest streets and canals. In the evening you could hear a pin drop it was so peaceful. I felt super safe walking around day and night with my partner, the locals we met were super friendly but if I was traveling alone Id probably feel a little anxious at night walking down so many little alley ways. I will defiently be back to Venice and I will be happy to stay here again.
What could be improved: The B n b is slightly dated in its decor but everything is clean and in working order. The coffee machine had no coffee 🙁 A selection of herbal teas and coffee would be nice for guests to help themselves to throughout the morning/eveningMary from United Kingdom – 31 October 2023 (9/10)
