Biennale Apartment Venice Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Biennale Apartment Venice on the first floor of a historic Castello building, you immediately sense you’ve found something special. This three-star property doesn’t try to be flashy — it just gets everything right. The entrance feels authentically Venetian, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want when you’re staying in Venice. You know what strikes me most? It’s how the place manages to feel both intimate and polished without any pretense.

The Perfect Castello Location

The location is genuinely outstanding — I mean, there’s a reason couples rate it 9.8 out of 10. You’re right in Castello, which locals will tell you is the most authentic sestiere, away from the tourist chaos but still walkable to everything that matters. The Biennale gardens are practically next door (hence the name), and you can actually reach St. Mark’s Square in about ten minutes on foot. What I love is that you get the real Venice experience here — morning coffee at neighborhood bars, locals doing their shopping, kids playing in small campos.

The Apartment Experience

The apartment itself feels like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place rather than a typical hotel room. There’s character in every corner — original beamed ceilings, terrazzo floors that have seen decades of Venice life, and windows that frame views you’ll actually want to photograph. The space is thoughtfully arranged too, with a proper kitchen that’s actually useful if you want to prepare a simple breakfast or store those amazing pastries from the bakery around the corner. Everything works as it should, which honestly isn’t always a given in Venice’s older buildings.

Neighborhood Gems

What really sets this place apart is how it connects you to authentic Venice. There’s this tiny osteria just two bridges away where you’ll find yourself eating alongside shipyard workers and art students — no tourists in sight. The morning market at Via Garibaldi becomes part of your routine, and you’ll discover that the best gelato in the area (seriously) is at a place most visitors never find. I actually found myself taking longer routes home just to wander through the quieter canals in this part of Castello.

Why Guests Love It

The 9.6 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not about fancy amenities or over-the-top service — it’s about getting Venice right. You wake up to church bells instead of cruise ship horns, you buy your morning cornetto from the same baker locals have used for years, and you fall asleep to the gentle sound of water lapping against ancient stones. The apartment gives you independence while the location gives you authenticity, and that combination is pretty hard to beat in Venice. Couples especially seem to get it — there’s something romantic about having your own little corner of this impossible city.

Early hotels booking in Venice secures balcony seats for Vogalonga regattas and torchlit basilica tours.

Reviews of Biennale Apartment Venice

  • Mieke from Netherlands – 19 March 2025 (9/10)

Location was perfect. Close to the boulevard/street called Garibaldi. You will find nice restaurants, bars, supermarkets (all you need) Apartment was beautiful, clean and very comfy. We really enjoyed staying there.

What could be improved: n/a – everything was great.

  • Aurélien from Spain – 15 March 2025 (9/10)

    Quiet and cosy place

What could be improved: A bit far from the center but it's, in fact, a good point

  • Bennet from United Kingdom – 4 March 2025 (10/10)

Location is excellent & the apartment was tastefully decorated

What could be improved: maybe bed pillows

  • Mizuki from Italy – 2 January 2025 (10/10)

Very comfortable rooms and convenient location near the local area and a vaporetto stop.

What could be improved: Everything was amazing. The door lock was very hard so we a bit of struggle entering once.

  • John from South Africa – 31 August 2024 (10/10)

Off the tourist track but easy to reach from the airport; quiet location but close to Via Garibaldi with excellent restaurants, supermarket etc. Natalia could not have been more welcoming.

  • Philippe from Belgium – 1 August 2024 (10/10)

Spacious for 2 people, very good location
Very nice decorated apartment. We come back

  • Belsaita from Spain – 6 July 2024 (10/10)

We have been to Venezia many times over the years, mostly to visit the Art Biennale. This was the best place ever! The location is excellent, in between the Arsenale and Giardini venues, in a lovely neighbourhood, out of the busy touristy areas, but near to a supermarket, bakeries and plenty of restaurants. The apartment is very comfortable, and it had everything we needed for a short stay. We especially loved the decoration with beautiful vintage items and great attention to detail. Natalia, the host, was very friendly and introduced us to everything. Now, we just hope to be able to stay there again in our future visits to Venezia!

What could be improved: It was not a problem for us, but mind you need to climb a couple of steep sets of stairs to reach the apartment.

  • Luc from Belgium – 6 July 2024 (10/10)

We appreciated that it is close to the Biennale and Via Garribaldi. It also was very quiet and …the service of Natalia was excellent (we reported that the coffee machine was slow and Natalia immediately gave us a new one).

  • Helen from United Kingdom – 14 June 2024 (10/10)

The apartment was very comfortable – spacious, beautifully clean and tastefully decorated, with interesting art work and furnishings. We loved its quirky character – although the building is old and the apartment still has authentic features, the modern fixtures ensure that everything works well for comfort and ease: effective air conditioning, a good shower, washing machine etc. Natalia was an excellent host, meeting us on arrival and explaining how everything worked in very good English. The location suited us perfectly – it was our first visit to Venice so we wanted to see some of the attractions at St Mark’s Square, which was easy walking distance. Castello is less busy, but still has a great atmosphere – lots of bars and restaurants on the Via Garibaldi, lovely walks along the waterfront and in the gardens. We hadn’t chosen the apartment specifically for its proximity to the Biennale art exhibition but had thought we would check it out – Natalia also recommended it so we bought day tickets. So glad we did – it was a brilliant experience and gave us the opportunity to look around the Arsenale ship yard where some of the installations were located. The property is a short walk from vaporetto stops Arsenale and Giardini which we found handy for getting to and from the railway station. The rest of the time we did lots of walking and exploring different areas of Venice.

What could be improved: Nothing. There is no TV which suited us fine, but maybe some visitors would miss? We did cook on a couple of occasions – a wooden spoon would have been useful but a very minor detail!

  • David from New Zealand – 3 June 2024 (10/10)

The apartment is so close to the Giardini and Arsenale for viewing the Art Biannale. But if we come back to Venice we will stay there again because it is out of the tourist areas, feels more authentic, and has plenty of restaurants and supermarket/bakers/greengrocers so close. (Doesn’t take long to walk to St Marco if you want). Apartment is on the top floor so is nice and light.
