Ca’ Badoer East Studio Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of San Polo to find Ca’ Badoer East Studio, you’ll probably pass it once before realizing you’ve arrived — it blends so seamlessly into the historic Venetian architecture. This three-star studio sits right on Rio Terà San Tomà, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has that authentic weathered stone look that screams old Venice, but inside it’s been thoughtfully updated without losing its character.
The San Polo Advantage
You know what’s brilliant about staying in San Polo? You’re actually in the heart of Venice without being trampled by cruise ship crowds every morning. The Rialto Market is just a few minutes’ walk away, and I mean the real market where locals still shop for fish and produce — not the tourist version. From here, you can easily walk to both the Rialto Bridge and the train station, which sounds impossible until you realize how compact this city really is. The couples who stay here consistently rate the location a perfect 10, and after spending time in this neighborhood, I totally get why.
The Studio Space
The room itself is what Venetians would call “cozy” — which means it’s small but incredibly well-designed. Everything has its place, from the compact kitchenette that actually works (rare in Venice, trust me) to the sleeping area that feels private despite the open layout. The windows look out onto the street, so you’ll hear the occasional water taxi and the sound of people navigating the narrow passages below. It’s authentic Venice living, and the space feels much larger than you’d expect once you settle in.
Neighborhood Life
What I love about this area is how it transforms throughout the day. Mornings bring the market vendors setting up their stalls, afternoons see locals heading to the nearby bacari (wine bars) for cicchetti, and evenings turn surprisingly quiet as day-trippers head back to the mainland. There’s a small campo just around the corner where you can grab morning coffee with actual Venetians, and the whole San Tomà area feels like a real neighborhood rather than an open-air museum. You’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from San Marco to actually breathe.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.2 rating makes perfect sense once you experience how this place works. It’s not trying to be a fancy hotel — instead, it gives you a genuine slice of Venetian life in one of the city’s most livable neighborhoods. The location score of 9.9 isn’t just marketing fluff; you really can walk everywhere that matters, and you’ll find yourself taking different routes each time just because the streets are so interesting. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about having your own little Venetian hideaway where you can duck in between exploring sessions, maybe grab some wine and cheese from the market, and feel like temporary locals rather than tourists passing through.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Venice around Cannaregio for artisan glass studios and uncrowded canals.

We had a wonderful stay at Ca' Badoer East Studio. The location was convenient, the apartment was lovely, clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Our host was extremely welcoming and helpful, we would highly recommend.

Lovely spacious apartment. Great character. Great location. Checkin was seamless and Marta also arranged for a porter to pick up our bags to take back to the train station.
What could be improved: Bathroom a bit small for our standards but that seems typical for most apartments we stayed in.Cohen from United States – 23 June 2024 (10/10)
Location, layout, very spacious, beautiful views, excellent costumer service
What could be improved: NoneAnu from Estonia – 28 September 2023 (8/10)
Excellent hosts. Clear communication, all needed information was given. Comfy beds, good location.
What could be improved: Bathroom was a bit small and hot water was limited ( two persons in the row couldn’t shower, hot water ended).Amy from Canada – 27 September 2023 (9/10)
We liked this property because it is about a 10 minute walk from the bus station and it was easy to pull our luggage. The location was also good in relation to all the tourist spots in Venice. It allowed us to have some quiet time being off the main tourist locations but still close enough to walk to a tourist spot in 5 minutes.
What could be improved: It is an older building thus you can't expect hot water instantly.Marlie from Canada – 24 September 2023 (9/10)
What a beautiful apartment! It’s exactly as the photos depict. There is an elevator, so you don’t have to walk up the 4 flights of stairs to get to the top. The air conditioner didn’t work the first night, but Ketty was very quick to fix the problem the next day! She was incredibly welcoming and gave us lots of suggestions for getting around Venice, including a couple of places to eat dinner. The bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked and the fridge is huge! We really appreciated this as we did some shopping at the nearby grocery store. The location is also excellent – we chose it because of how central it was. About a 10 min walk from the train station and 20 mins to St. Mark’s Square. Beautiful view of the Frari Church, too!!
Marta from Netherlands – 14 July 2023 (9/10)
We really enjoyed our stay. Our host – Ketty, was lovely, helpful, and very knowledgeable. The apartment was cozy and super clean. Perfect location to enjoy a bit quiet side of Venice but still really close to all the important sights. Views from the apartment are underappreciated 😉 Elevator!
What could be improved: The only thing that I can think of, is the bathroom – super clean but quite small – might not be ideal for a larger group. For a couple – it was no problem at all, we managed quite alright.James from United States – 4 July 2023 (10/10)
Wow! Wow and wow again!
This place is a true Venetian gem. Katty & Pietro were lovely hosts and made my stay memorable! Location is perfect. Busy during the day. Not at all in the evening and very quiet. I slept with the windows opens. In front of a beautiful church with stunning views. The building has elevator so no worries there. Also the apt is bigger than it looks like in the photo and Wi-Fi is working great. I worked from home.
What could be improved: Nothing!Gabriela from United States – 24 October 2022 (10/10)
so cute and very comfortable. Ketty, the owner was so nice and helpful
