Ca’ de la Gondola, Murano Overview
First Impressions
When I first stepped off the vaporetto at Murano, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from Ca’ de la Gondola, Murano. The island feels worlds away from the tourist chaos of central Venice, and that’s exactly what makes this three-star gem so special. You know what struck me immediately? The quiet — actual quiet, where you can hear glass artisans working in their studios instead of endless crowds shuffling past your window. There’s something profoundly restorative about stepping into that kind of peace.
The Island Experience
Murano isn’t just about glass-making (though watching the masters work is pretty mesmerizing). What I love about staying here is how it gives you this authentic Venetian island life that most tourists never experience. The hotel sits right on Ramo Barovier — and if that name sounds familiar, it should, since the Barovier family has been making glass here for centuries. You’re literally sleeping in the heart of Venice’s artisan quarter. The vaporetto connections are actually really good too, so you’re not stranded — just peacefully removed from the madness.
The Room and Comfort
My room had this charming mix of traditional Venetian touches and modern comfort that worked surprisingly well. The furnishings felt authentic without being stuffy, and honestly, the bed was more comfortable than I expected from a three-star place. What really won me over was the attention to detail — local glass pieces as decoration (obviously), and windows that actually opened to let in that lagoon breeze. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, which seems to be the Venice standard anyway. Every corner reflects thoughtful design choices.
Local Life and Dining
Here’s something you won’t get in the guidebooks — staying on Murano means you eat where locals eat. There’s this fantastic restaurant just a few minutes’ walk away where I had some of the best seafood risotto of my trip, and the prices were about half what you’d pay near San Marco. The hotel staff actually gave me directions to a bacaro that doesn’t even have a sign — just locals gathering for cicchetti and wine. I mean, that’s the kind of insider knowledge that makes a stay memorable. You’ll discover flavors and places that most visitors never find.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.9 rating makes perfect sense once you spend a night here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — no pretentious amenities or over-the-top service. Instead, it delivers exactly what thoughtful travelers want: a genuine Venice experience without the tourist trap feeling. Couples especially seem to get it (they rated the location 8.1), probably because there’s something inherently romantic about having your own quiet island to explore together. You’ll wake up to the sound of boats instead of tour groups, and honestly, that alone is worth the slightly longer vaporetto ride to reach the main sights.

Ca' de la Gondola completely exceeded our expectations and I urge you to book your stay here – you will not be disappointed. The stunning apartment has the atmosphere of a home away from home, with the most comfortable bed ever – which is not even an understatement. The apartment was tucked away in the quieter streets of Murano and made it a lovely escape from busy central Venice. I am so glad we came across this hidden Gem.
We couldn't have asked for anything more, the apartment was equipped with all the facilities and everything we could possibly have needed and more. Local shops in the area for all of your essentials including; supermarket/butchers/fruit shop/gelato/chemist. The hosts were so helpful and recommended us lots of restaurants, things to do and knowledge on the area for our trip. We wanted to thank Alessandra who went above and beyond, sending us a walkthrough on how to get to the apartment and even from the Airport to Venice upon arrival, she provided us with a local guide of Murano, containing all of her local expertise and a list of places to visit.
We were so impressed with the cleanliness of the apartment. I would recommend other travellers to stay here if they want somewhere quiet/ a more residential area to stay while visiting Venice. The public transport is also incredibly consistent and reliable. The water ferry service is very frequent (even late at night), always on time and so easy to navigate.
The terraced garden area of the home is the perfect touch, it really allowed us to feel like we were in our own little home in Italy. It's the most inviting space, with a very homely and authentic atmosphere.
Thank you so much for hosting us, we loved every second of our stay and I would not hesitate to recommend anyone visiting Venice to stay here.

The apartment was confortable, close to a vaporetto stop, and located far from the glut of tourists in Venice.
What could be improved: The hot water heater broke, leaving us without hot water for 2 days and nights which we resolved by going to a nearby hotel. The owner refunded us some, but not even the full amount we paid for one night in the apartment. The inconvenience of finding a new place, packing, and doing it again the next day, superseded the comfort and pleasure of the stay.Shellie from Canada – 4 May 2024 (9/10)
Very clean easy access
What could be improved: Staff responsible were un compassionate that we were having trouble with cell service and were a little cold . Also after us telling them we did not get links left a note to call office on steps which again had no phone number to call as we were having difficulty with our cell serviceMary from United States – 30 April 2024 (9/10)
We loved this apartment. We were able to wash our clothes and cook in if we wanted. Great communication from the host who made it easy to find the place. I loved just riding the vaporetto around- so be sure to just buy a 24 or 48 hour pass. It’s worth it because a single ticket for 10 euros only lasts 75 minutes.
What could be improved: Nothing. It’s quiet and not as crowded as Venice. The only thing I can think of is that the bathroom is not right next to the bedroom.Sebastian from Romania – 15 March 2024 (9/10)
Spacious house, including also a nice courtyard, in a quiet neighbourhood, very close to a "vaporetto" station.
Carefully chosen/selected furniture and accessories, quality home appliances (including a washing machine and a clothes dryer), comfortable bed mattress and pillows.
Good size kitchen/dining room, fully and tastefully equipped (perfect "camouflage" for the refrigerator and freezer !).
Large bathroom with a spacious shower cabin (consumables/toiletries included, bath slippers available).
A few restaurants/taverns/bars and a market within walking distance.
Easy self-check-in, useful written comunication/instructions from the property.
Pet-friendly location.
Very good ratio quality / price (at least for Venice area …).
What could be improved: A few spider webs on the wooden ceilings (no visible spiders though !).
A small glass/metal shelf for toiletries inside the shower cabin and a few towels/clothes hangers inside the bathroom would have been highly appreciated.
And please update the English written version of the garbage disposal instructions inside the house …Anonymous from United Kingdom – 28 November 2023 (9/10)

Large, well furnished, new apartment. Large comfortable kitchen and bathroom. Very quiet place – you can have the windows open at night. It is actually a separate house with its own backyard, where you can have dinner or breakfast in privacy, undisturbed. The island of Murano itself is a magical place, just 10 minutes away by boat from Venice.
What could be improved: we missed the towel hooks in the bathroomTomas from United Kingdom – 19 July 2023 (9/10)
We had our flights cancelled whilst in Venice so had to find somewhere to stay an extra 3 nights. We chose Ca' de la Gondola to get away from the crowds and enjoy peaceful Murano, and we're so glad we did. The apartment is very spacious with lovely furnishings and lots of little touches to make a very comfortable stay. It's in a quiet neighborhood, 2 minute walk from the main canal. Lucia checked us in who was so friendly and welcoming, giving us some history, recommendations and answering all our questions. The apartment almost feels brand new and the appliances certainly reflect this – we very much appreciated the amazing air con during the heat wave. If it suits you to stay in Murano then look no further, you won't be disappointed!
What could be improved: Can't fault anything, perfetto!
