First Impressions

Cà Dolce Attico is one of those places that genuinely surprises you. From the outside, it blends right into the Cannaregio streetscape — all that warm Venetian stone and quiet canal-side calm — but step inside and there’s a real sense of care about the place. It’s a three-star property, sure, but it punches well above that in terms of atmosphere and attention to detail. You get the feeling someone actually thought about what guests need, rather than just ticking boxes.

Location & Neighborhood

Cannaregio is honestly one of my favourite parts of Venice to stay in. It’s far enough from the San Marco crowds that you can actually breathe, but still completely walkable to everything worth seeing. The location score here is 9.5, and I’d say that’s earned — you’re in what’s consistently rated the top area in the city. Couples especially seem to love it, and I get why: the neighbourhood has this unhurried, almost residential feel that makes Venice seem like somewhere people actually live, not just a theme park for tourists.

The Room

The “attico” in the name is a clue — you’re looking at attic-style rooms, which in Venice means sloped ceilings, exposed beams, and that sort of tucked-away feeling that’s genuinely charming rather than just a marketing angle. The spaces are well put together, clean, and comfortable without being fussy. Natural light comes in nicely, and if you get a room with a view over the rooftops, well, that’s just Venice doing what Venice does. It’s cosy in the best possible sense.

Getting Around

One thing people sometimes overlook when booking in Venice is how the location actually works day-to-day. From Cannaregio, you’re close to the train station at Santa Lucia, which makes arrivals and departures far less stressful than dragging luggage across half the city. The Rialto is a pleasant walk along the canal, and you can reach it without fighting through the worst of the tourist bottlenecks. I mean, you’re still in Venice, so there will be crowds — but staying here gives you a bit of a head start on avoiding the worst of it.

Why Guests Love It

The overall rating sits at 9 out of 10, which for Venice — where expectations run high and the city itself can be exhausting — is genuinely impressive. What seems to win people over is the combination of a brilliant location, rooms that feel personal rather than generic, and a neighbourhood that rewards slow exploration. It’s not a flashy stay, and it doesn’t try to be. What Cà Dolce Attico offers instead is something a bit harder to find: a place that feels like it belongs to Venice rather than just sitting in it. If you’re visiting as a couple and want something intimate, well-located, and with real character, this one’s worth a serious look.

  Beautiful apartment in a very convenient location, both easy to get to from the airport and a walkable distance from major landmarks. Even though Venice has a lot of tourists, the entrance for this unit is down a quiet street tucked away from the tourists. There were two sets of keys, which made it very easy for my friend and I to split up and explore the city separately on days when we didn't want to do everything together. The apartment is larger than it looks in the pictures. The host Attilia was also extremely responsive and helpful in explaining how the public transportation worked to and from the airport.
  
  p.s. Note that the apartment is on the fifth floor so there are four flights of stairs to access the unit. We did not pick up on the fact that "Attico" means attic, so we were slightly surprised, but it is very cute (just make sure that everyone you are traveling with can do stairs).
  
  What could be improved: The biggest problem was that there was no heat due to it being October, and temperatures were getting a bit chilly. Our host explained that it is a policy in Venice that they are not allowed to turn on the heat until November 1st, so it is not an issue with the property. Unfortunately we did not learn about this until after we arrived so we were not able to pack warmer clothing. I would still stay here again, I would just suggest that if you are visiting in the fall or the spring to double-check with the host about when the heating is on.

  On a aimé : l'emplacement, par rapport au centre ville de Venise, très accessible par le vaporetto, ligne 1, de nombreux restaurants et une supérette et un vendeur de fruits et légumes à quelques pas.
  L'appartement est situé dans une rue très calme.

  Friendly and very helpful host, lovely clean, spacious flat, well equipped kitchen, great location – quiet street next to a canal but very close to the main tourist areas.

  It is located in quiet area but very close to main attractions.
  The apartment is very spacious and cousy and with amazing views on canal from bedroom.
  We were able to keep luggage after check out in the building and pick it up later.

  We were amazed by the neighbourhood of Cannaregio, which is one of the (more or less) more authentic quarters of Venice. But still you can reach the public transport or the city center within a short walk. Cafés and restaurants are just around the corner. We loved (!!) the matresses of the beds and enjoyed the nicely equipped apartment. Our host was very friendly and was open to help us out with any kind of information to all of our questions. I can highly recommend staying at Cá Dolce Attico!

  the view from the patio was stunning, with every penny for the sunrise and sunset! the place was roomy. the kitchen was not great- lighting the stove with small lighter proved challenging- but it was otherwise really fabulous.
