Ca’ dei Pasi Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow stone streets of Castello to find Ca’ dei Pasi, you’ll pass locals hanging laundry from ancient windows and small neighborhood cafes that tourists rarely discover. This three-star boutique hotel sits tucked away in what’s honestly one of Venice’s most authentic sestieri — far enough from the Piazza San Marco crowds but close enough that you can still hear the distant bells of the basilica on quiet mornings. The entrance is understated in that perfectly Venetian way, where you’d walk right past if you weren’t looking for the small brass nameplate.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about Castello — it’s where actual Venetians live their daily lives. You’ll find yourself sharing narrow bridges with residents wheeling their shopping carts to the local market, and there’s something magical about that authenticity. The location score of 9.9 makes complete sense when you realize you’re literally a five-minute walk to the Doge’s Palace, yet you can step outside Ca’ dei Pasi and feel like you’ve discovered a secret corner of the city. Couples especially seem to get this — there’s something incredibly romantic about wandering these quieter canals at sunset, then slipping back to your hotel without fighting through tourist crowds.
The Rooms
The rooms here strike that perfect balance between Venetian character and modern comfort that’s honestly hard to find at this price point. You know what impressed me most? The attention to detail — original wooden beams overhead, but also proper air conditioning that actually works during those sweltering August days. The bathrooms are compact (this is Venice, after all), but they’ve been thoughtfully renovated with good water pressure, which anyone who’s stayed in older Venetian buildings will tell you is no small feat. Most rooms overlook either a quiet canal or the internal courtyard, and I actually preferred the courtyard view — it’s surprisingly peaceful.
Daily Life at the Hotel
The staff here operates more like a small family business than a typical hotel, which means they actually remember your name and can give you directions to that specific bacaro you’re trying to find. Breakfast is served in a charming room with original frescoed ceilings — nothing fancy, but the coffee is proper Italian strong and the pastries come from a local bakery. What really sets Ca’ dei Pasi apart is how they handle the little things: they’ll hold your luggage before check-in while you explore, arrange water taxi pickups that don’t cost a fortune, and somehow always know which restaurants in the neighborhood are worth your time.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.6 rating isn’t an accident — this place delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. You’re staying in the real Venice, not the postcard version, but you’re still close enough to hit all the major sights when you want to. The value is exceptional for what you get, especially considering the location in one of the city’s most desirable areas. I mean, when couples are rating the location 9.9 for romantic trips, that tells you something about the neighborhood’s charm. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next Venice trip before you’ve even checked out.

Location is very accessible to the water taxi station and also near everything, restaurants and all the attractions in the city. Daniela is so nice and she even gave me a little something when she realized it was my birthday. We will definitely recommend her place to friends and families.😃

What could be improved: Nothing, would have loved to stay longerMargaret from United States – 17 September 2024 (10/10)
Beautiful and recently appointed apartment. The bedroom is larger than it appears in the photo, the mattress is very comfortable, and the street is quiet. The location is convenient to the Arsenale vaporetto / Alilaguna stop (no steps!), which makes it easy. Good restaurants nearby yet it is away from the busy streets. Daniele and Alberto, our hosts, live nearby and were helpful when we needed assistance with the washer and the air conditioner minisplit. They were super nice, young, smart, ans fluent in English.
What could be improved: Loved it all!Patricia from United Kingdom – 8 August 2024 (10/10)
Lovely 1 bed apartment, ideal for a couple. It has a sleeper couch in the kitchen/dining room as well. Very conveniently situated 3min walk from water taxi rank as well as lovely restaurants on the riverbank.
What could be improved: Nothing not to like, everything you need apart from no dressing table in the bedroom, but I just used the dining table in the little lounge/kitchenette.Hyunju from South Korea – 21 July 2024 (10/10)

The location was excellent! Walking distance was close to San Marco Square.
What could be improved: Recommendation: instructions for washer and a complementary bottle of water.
