Ca’ Dorè Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow calle to reach Ca’ Dorè, you’ll pass typical Venetian houses with their weathered facades before arriving at this charming three-star hotel. The entrance feels authentically local — no grand lobby here, just a warm welcome that immediately puts you at ease. What strikes you first is how the property manages to feel both intimate and well-appointed, tucked away in Cannaregio but clearly well-maintained and thoughtfully run.

Location & Neighborhood

Honestly, the location is what makes this place special. Ca’ Dorè sits in Cannaregio, which locals will tell you is one of Venice’s most livable sestieri — you’re close enough to everything but far enough from the cruise ship crowds that swarm San Marco. The walk to the Rialto takes about ten minutes through quiet residential streets, and you can actually reach the train station on foot, which is incredibly handy when you’re dragging luggage. I mean, couples consistently rate this spot a 9.9, and after spending time here, you understand why — it’s that sweet spot between authentic neighborhood life and tourist accessibility.

The Rooms

The accommodations at Ca’ Dorè reflect that classic Venetian charm without trying too hard. You’ll find rooms that are comfortable rather than flashy — think traditional furnishings, decent-sized windows (well, decent for Venice standards), and bathrooms that actually function properly. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and there’s enough space to spread out your things without feeling cramped. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details — good lighting for reading, reliable WiFi, and rooms that stay reasonably cool even during summer months.

Daily Life

Mornings here have a nice rhythm to them. The breakfast setup is straightforward but satisfying — fresh pastries, good coffee, and everything you need to start exploring the city. The staff knows the neighborhood well and can point you toward the best local bacari (those small wine bars Venice does so well) or help you avoid tourist traps. You know what’s nice? Coming back in the evening to a place that feels like a refuge from the intensity of Venice sightseeing, somewhere you can actually relax and recharge.

Why Guests Love It

Ca’ Dorè works because it gets the fundamentals right without overcomplicating things. The location score of 9.6 isn’t just a number — it reflects how this hotel gives you genuine access to both tourist Venice and residential Venice. You’re staying in a real neighborhood where people actually live, shop at local markets, and go about their daily business, but you can still reach the major sights easily. For a three-star property, it delivers exactly what most travelers actually want: a clean, comfortable base in an excellent location with staff who care about your experience. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, and that authenticity is refreshing in a city where tourist accommodations can feel pretty generic.

Venice’s apartments welcome families with vaporetto passes, kitchenettes for market hauls, and bridges leading to Lido playgrounds.

Reviews of Ca’ Dorè

  • James from United States – 1 March 2025 (9/10)

Easy check in, Cecilia is very friendly and helpful. Clean and stylish.

  • Suzanne from United Kingdom – 14 October 2024 (8/10)

Very central location. Easy to find after arriving in at the Waterbus stop at F.te Nove, Venice. Hosts extremely helpful – nothing was too much trouble and any queries answered promptly.

What could be improved: When booking on website it said "balcony" which was the reason for booking this property. On arrival found there are two Ca' D'oro apartments and only apartment 1 had a balcony! The photographs on Booking.com showed a balcony but it was not clear that apartment 2 did not have one. There are a lot of photographs on the listing which I had presumed showed alterations over the years but now realise it shows the two different apartments but these are not segregated between the two apartments so difficult to know which you are booking. Listings really need to be separated so you can see exactly which apartment is being booked. Really upset to find no balcony as it was a main criteria for booking.

  • Alicia from New Zealand – 8 July 2024 (9/10)

Comfortable bed, nice kitchen and bathroom (excellent shower) good AC
    Small balcony was ok.
Good location, close to both Fondamente Nove and Cá D’oro for access to airport and boats.

What could be improved: Extra hot on the balcony with the AC air being blown out.

  • Borotkinaite from United Kingdom – 2 May 2024 (7/10)

Great location, clean and easy access to the centre of the town

  • Ra'ed from New Zealand – 20 September 2023 (8/10)

    I liked the location.

What could be improved: The master bed is a bit hard and uncomfortable to sleep. The shower is a bit small.

  • Sameer from United States – 27 July 2023 (8/10)

    Spacious and comfortable apartment.
    Nice neighborhood.

What could be improved: Passerby noise from the small street below the bedrooms at night. But it was usually brief.

  • Constanza from United States – 12 July 2023 (9/10)

We really enjoyed our stay in Ca’Doré.
The apartment was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also big, clean and great and with toiletries for arrival.
Kitchen with fridge, oven, bar table. Plates, cups.
The location was really good. Quiet relaxed street, but very near to lots of restaurants and shops.
AC was perfect after a day of walking in the summer heat.
The manager (or owner) was very nice, super easy to talk to and she was on top of any questions we had.
Check in and check out were easy and fast.
We would for sure stay here again. And definitely recommend this place to anybody that comes to Venezia with family or on a group. We were 4, my husband, my 2 boys and me. We had a great time here!

What could be improved: To be honest, there was nothing that we didn’t like.

  • Rachel from United Kingdom – 5 October 2022 (8/10)

Bathroom was great; shower powerful, heated towel rail was lovely. Basic toiletries provided too. Also a few food/drink items were left e.g. tea, coffee. Kitchen cleaning products also provided.

What could be improved: Some crockery and utensils in the kitchen were dirty, not washed up well.

  • Yvonne from Ireland – 6 May 2022 (9/10)

The apartment was spotless and in a very quiet area ( but we knew that from our previous visit in Oct 2019). It had everything you'd need to make it a nice place to stay and the bedrooms and dining /sitting room was huge. We were only a couple but it is definitely big enough for a couple + 2 young kids – there is a large sofabed in the sitting area.

What could be improved: If you hadn't been there before it would have been useful to have someone meet you to tell you about the water-heater, cooker and the balcony. We had a very nice host the first time we stayed here so were familiar with how things worked.

  • Aurélie from France – 2 May 2022 (9/10)

location is great both at 5 minutes walk from Ca d’Oro station on the grand canal and 5 minutes walk from Fondamente Nove in front of Murano and departure point to the airport by boat and the islands. a supermarket is open every day until 9 pm at 150 m (Coop). it is a peaceful area where Venezian people live (many children go to school at 8 am!). lots of restaurants around but not in the street of the apartment which makes it calm. apartment is functional, large enough for a family of 4. we were anxious about the remote check in but everything went well and it was easy.

What could be improved: do not expect to be able to cook complex dishes as there are few knives, plates, cooking instruments in general. oven did not function when we were there.
