Ca Giacomo – lovely apartment in the historic center of Venice Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow streets of Santa Croce to reach Ca Giacomo – lovely apartment in the historic center of Venice, you immediately understand why this place has such an incredible location score. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of everything that makes Venice magical, but tucked away from the tourist chaos that can overwhelm other parts of the city. The building itself has that authentic Venetian charm — you know, the kind where you feel like you’re stepping into someone’s actual home rather than just another sterile hotel room.

The Space

This three-star apartment honestly punches way above its weight class. The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense of being somewhere special — high ceilings, original details, and windows that frame Venice like living postcards. The kitchen is actually functional (which isn’t always a given in Venice), so you can grab fresh ingredients from the nearby markets and cook breakfast while watching the city wake up. The space feels authentically Venetian without being museum-like, if that makes sense.

Location Magic

Here’s what I love about the Santa Croce location — you’re close enough to walk to San Marco or the Rialto Bridge, but far enough away that you escape the worst crowds. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel where you’ll see actual Venetians going about their daily lives. There’s a fantastic little bacaro just around the corner where locals grab their morning coffee, and honestly, that’s worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to experience the real Venice rather than the tourist version.

Why Couples Love It

I can totally see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something incredibly romantic about having your own little Venetian hideaway. You can wander back after dinner and feel like you’re coming home rather than returning to just another hotel room. The apartment gives you space to breathe and plan your days without feeling rushed, plus there’s something special about making morning coffee together while planning which bridges to cross that day. The privacy factor is huge, especially in a city where everything else feels so public and shared.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.6 rating isn’t just numbers — it reflects how this place manages to deliver an authentic Venice experience without the typical compromises. You get the historic atmosphere, the perfect location, and the comfort of having your own space, all wrapped up in a package that feels both special and practical. The fact that you can actually live like a Venetian for a few days, shopping at local markets and cooking in your own space, makes this so much more than just a place to sleep. It’s the kind of spot where you’ll find yourself already planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out.

Exploring Venice mixes Gothic arches, artisan mask ateliers, and cicchetti crawls along shadowy rii.

Reviews of Ca Giacomo – lovely apartment in the historic center of Venice

  • Rocio from United States – 9 March 2025 (10/10)

Claudia is a great host! She met us at the train station and assisted with our luggage. It was much nicer to go with her to the apartment the first time instead of trying to find it on our own. This was a great plus! The apartment is fabulous! Well located, very close to the train station, a few minutes walk from the Vaporetto stop and market. The apartment is very comfortable, modern, and clean. I highly recommend her place, whether it's a short or a long stay, it's just perfect!

What could be improved: Nothing, everything was perfect!

Claudia was amazing at keeping in touch and welcomed us with so much warmth.

  • Carole from United Kingdom – 27 October 2024 (9/10)

    once orientated location was good

What could be improved: a lift!

  • Will from United Kingdom – 3 August 2024 (10/10)

Claudia was an amazing host and provided a lovely clean apartment in a terrific part of Venice. The area is only minutes from the “tourist trail”, but feels like there’s only locals around in the neighbouring bars and restaurants. We used many of her suggestions and communication was great up to and during the stay.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Rhona from United Kingdom – 4 April 2024 (9/10)

Quiet area but short walk from popular areas

What could be improved: Deep steps up to bathroom.

  • Gretchen from United States – 15 October 2023 (10/10)

It was in a great location with the right mix of access and privacy. The space was clean, spacious and had just what you needed to be together while having options to get some quiet time.

What could be improved: It was overall perfect! The only thing we would suggest is some dishwashing soap for the kitchen. Possibly we just didn’t find it. We used the soap from the bathroom to wash our cups and dishes. That’s it!

  • Tally from United States – 1 August 2023 (9/10)

Customer service was excellent. Went out of there way to meet us and escort us to the apartment.

What could be improved: It was hot. Ac works but fans in bedrooms would be an easy fix to help w summer heat issues rain head shower not working only shower wand. Mosquito spray in apartment would also be useful. We got bites in apartment because we were told to open windows during the day when hone and turn air off when we’re were not in the apartment.

  • Barna from Romania – 21 June 2023 (10/10)

Big & comfy flat, enough for 5 pers . The host, Claudia is a very welcoming person, she waiting us early morning at the bus station and we got a lot of good advice about Venice. Thanks again, Claudia!

What could be improved: Nothing to mention

  • Jason from Japan – 14 June 2023 (10/10)

Cozy apartment, super friendly host. Easy access to the train station and ferry station although the place was super quiet at night.

What could be improved: Nothing at all!
