Corte dell’ Angelo, una casa romantica vicino la Biennale Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow streets of Castello to find Corte dell’ Angelo, una casa romantica vicino la Biennale, you might wonder if you’ve taken a wrong turn — until you spot the discreet entrance tucked away from the tourist crowds. This three-star gem sits in what locals know is one of Venice’s most authentic neighborhoods, where you’ll hear more Italian than English echoing off the ancient walls. The property immediately feels different from your typical Venetian hotel; it’s more like staying in someone’s carefully restored family palazzo, complete with that slightly worn elegance that only comes with centuries of history.

Location & Neighborhood

Honestly, the location here is pretty spectacular — there’s a reason it scored 9.4 for location. You’re in Castello, which means you can actually breathe without bumping into selfie sticks every few steps. The Biennale gardens are literally around the corner (hence the name), and I mean that quite literally — it’s maybe a three-minute walk. What I really love about this spot is how you can slip away from the madness of San Marco in about ten minutes on foot, but when you want to retreat, you’ve got this peaceful corner of Venice where locals still hang their laundry between buildings and kids play football in the campos.

The Romantic Appeal

There’s something about Corte dell’ Angelo that just works for couples — and the 9.5 rating backs that up. The rooms have this intimate, lived-in charm with exposed beams and antique furnishings that feel authentic rather than staged. You know what really sets the mood though? The little courtyard (that’s the “corte” part) where you can have your morning coffee without the chaos of Venice swirling around you. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourselves lingering over breakfast, planning your day while listening to church bells instead of tour guides with megaphones.

The Experience

What strikes me most about staying here is how it manages to feel both historic and comfortable. The rooms aren’t huge — this is Venice, after all — but they’re thoughtfully arranged with period details that remind you you’re sleeping in a building that’s probably older than your entire hometown. The staff actually knows the neighborhood; they’ll send you to the little bacaro two streets over that doesn’t appear in guidebooks, or tell you which vaporetto stop to use to avoid the crowds at Rialto. It’s that kind of local knowledge that makes the difference between feeling like a tourist and feeling like you’ve discovered something special.

Why Guests Love It

People keep coming back to Corte dell’ Angelo because it delivers on that promise of romance without the tourist trap feeling. You’re staying in one of Venice’s top-rated areas, but in a way that feels genuine rather than manufactured. The combination of the peaceful location, the authentic Venetian atmosphere, and the proximity to both major sights and hidden local gems creates this perfect balance. Plus, when you can walk to the Biennale in minutes but still feel like you’ve escaped the crowds, you know you’ve found something worth returning to.

    Интерьер соответствует прекрасной Венеции!

What could be improved: Все отлично!

  • Anita from Austria – 7 February 2025 (10/10)

Empfehlung pur! Sehr liebevoll & charmant eingerichtet. Super ausgestattete Küche usw. Alles schön sauber.
Ausgezeichnete, ruhige Lage (20 Gehminuten zum Markusplatz). Supermärkte, Bäckerei, Bankomaten usw. in unmittelbarer Nähe. Vermieterin sehr freundlich und hat uns am Tag vor der Anreise eine detaillierte Wegbeschreibung und andere praktische Informationen zugeschickt.
Wir haben uns total wohl gefühlt und kommen bestimmt wieder! 10/10 Punkten!

  • F from Italy – 15 November 2024 (10/10)

Best feature of this house is the location: we love that part of Venice where you can still meet more locals than tourists. In addition this flat, which is at ground floor and has the entrance in a small court, is unexpectedly full of light, in fact all the windows (2 per room) overlook the public garden and are shaded with green plants. The flat itself is as it appears in the photos: very original and traditional at the same time, with an intense Venetian taste. All the necessary facilities are available and in perfect state. Shops are within a very short distance and so is "vaporetto"s stop.

What could be improved: all perfect

  • Ulrike from Austria – 10 October 2024 (8/10)

    > PERFECT LOCATION for visitors of the Biennale and those who don't want to stay in the very touristy part of town. Just around the corner there is Via Giuseppe Garibaldi with a lot of restaurants and grocery shops.
    > EASY to find the apartment and the key box with the instructions and photos that were provided.
    > GOOD LAYOUT with 2 separate bedrooms. The walls appeared to be freshly painted in pretty green and pink.

What could be improved: > The smaller bedroom, although very pretty, had really absolutely no space to put anything. The wardrobe/cupboard in the corner was locked and there were no hooks on the wall and no space to even put a chair or a suitcase. Generally there were no hooks on the wall (except one in the bathroom) to hang anything, not even next to the entrance 🙁.
    > Communication with the owner or person who managed the property was a bit slow at the beginning.
    > The kitchen was fairly well equipped, but a few mugs or larger tea cups would have been nice.
    > We had a lot of mosquitos in the room, which probably came in from the garden outside the windows, when we opened them to air the room. There was a mosquito repellent plug, but no refill tablets. Installing mosquito nets in the windows could be a solution. There are ones that work like blinds and can be pulled up, so the shutters outside can be accessed.

  • Anna from Poland – 30 August 2024 (10/10)

Lokalizacja z daleka od głównych atrakcji Wenecji, a zarazem blisko deptaku z dużą ilością klimatycznych restauracji. Mieszkanie bardzo starannie i pięknie zaaranżowane z dobrze wyposażoną kuchnią.

What could be improved: Brak takich rzeczy.

  • Alexandra from Belgium – 12 August 2024 (10/10)

Great Venitian ambience, similar to a boutique hotel. without paying the exagerated amount these hotels charge for!

  • Danielle from United Kingdom – 9 August 2024 (10/10)

Authentic venetian apartment in a great location. There was AC in both bedrooms and everything necessary to enjoy a comfortable stay. The host provided precise and helpful directions to the property and a booklet on arrival with attraction and restaurant recommendations.

What could be improved: Everything was perfect, grazie.

  • Mariia from Poland – 20 July 2024 (10/10)

  • Rachel from United Kingdom – 18 July 2024 (10/10)

The property was immaculate and beautifully furnished with attention to detail. Arrival instructions were clear and extra information needed was prompt and helpful. The location is perfect away from the crowds but within walking distance to everything and close to some lovely reasonably priced restaurants and cafes. Also very friendly and safe.

What could be improved: Nothing. Everything was perfect

  • Bozena from Ireland – 5 April 2024 (10/10)

Easy process with self check in, great location – within walking distance to the main square and with many restaurants around but still very quiet at night. A host is responsive and communicating clearly. The apartment is very nicely decorated and well-equipped.

What could be improved: There is no much of a choice but some tea and cappuccino provided in the kitchen closet – however, coffee is available from early hours in nearby restaurants and cafés.
