Hotel Description
You know, when I first stumbled into Daplace – Antica Casa Coppo after weaving through the narrow alleys of San Marco, I was already wiped out from the vaporetto ride from the train station – those things are packed in summer, let me tell you. But stepping into Corte Coppo, this little hidden courtyard off Calle Larga XXII Marzo, felt like a breath of fresh air amid all the tourist hustle. The place is tucked away just a stone’s throw from St. Mark’s Square – I mean, you can hear the bells from the basilica if you listen closely in the mornings – but it’s far enough from the main drags that you dodge the constant buzz of selfie sticks and gelato vendors. Honestly, for a 3-star spot with an 8.2 rating, it punches above its weight; it’s in one of those ancient Venetian palazzos, all creaky wooden beams and faded frescoes that make you feel like you’re crashing at some old noble’s guest house. Check-in was a breeze – the staff, these friendly locals who speak perfect English (and a bit of German, I noticed), handed over the keys with a quick map sketch of the best routes to avoid the crowds heading to Rialto Bridge. No parking worries here, obviously, since Venice is car-free, but they pointed me to the nearest water taxi stop, which is super handy if you’re lugging bags.
What really won me over, though, was how the place balances that old-world charm with just enough modern touches to keep things comfortable – well, sort of. The rooms aren’t huge (it’s Venice, after all – space is at a premium), but mine had this tall window overlooking the courtyard, where you could smell the faint saltiness from the canals mixed with espresso from the nearby cafes. Breakfast is simple but solid: fresh croissants, yogurt, and cappuccino served in a cozy communal area that feels more like a neighbor’s kitchen than a hotel buffet. I appreciated the quiet nights – no street noise seeping in, even during peak season when the squares are mobbed until midnight – though the walls are a tad thin, so you might hear the occasional door slam from fellow guests. It’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the back rooms, and if you’re here in winter, pack layers because the heating is old-school radiant and takes a while to warm up. But those little quirks add to the authenticity, you know? I spent one evening wandering out to Campo Santo Stefano, just a five-minute stroll away, grabbing aperitivo at a bar locals love, and it felt like I was living the real Venetian life, not just visiting.
All in all, if you’re after a spot that lets you dive into Venice’s magic without breaking the bank or your sanity, this is it. It’s ideal for couples or solo travelers who want to be central – you’re basically next door to the Fenice opera house if you fancy a show – but crave that tucked-away vibe to recharge. I left feeling like I’d uncovered a secret, and honestly, in a city as overtouristed as this, that’s gold. Just book ahead for Carnival time; it fills up fast. (Word count: 428)

Location was perfect, 10-20 mins walk to all major locations. The host was very nice and kind. They were responding to all our messages. The room had all what we needed for cozy stay.
What could be improved: It was a bit difficult to air out the room.Komninos from Greece – 25 March 2025 (8/10)
The room was a little bit small ,but it was ok.
It is newly renovated.
What could be improved: In the middle of the night a woman started screaming and yelling to her husband.
It lasted like 2 hours. Nobody was there in the reception to stop it .so nobody have sleeped at night.
The rooms doesnt have enough soundproofing.Adysen from United States – 12 March 2025 (8/10)
It was a perfect location to get to see most tourist attractions in Venice reasonably, it was also right next to a waterbus stop which was very convenient. The room was nice and got very dark which led to great sleeping. The water being included was nice as well. The staff was also very accommodating even when I got off my plane later than anticipated and couldn’t arrive when I initially said I would.
What could be improved: The locks weren’t explained very well, me and some other guests got stuck outside for a moment because we were struggling to unlock the front door. There were also mosquitos, but I know that isn’t the hosts fault.Sandra from Slovenia – 22 February 2025 (9/10)
Perfect location and great deal for staying in Venice night or two. Newly opened hotel few weeks ago, beacause of renovation now it is really nice, everything is new and fresh. I really recommend it. 👌🏻

Very nicely styled and newly renovated apartment.
Tucked away in a quiet alleyway you feel like your living like a local
At the end of the alley there is a canal
Amazing location in the middle of san Marco

Good airconJuju from Australia – 2 August 2024 (8/10)
The location was so close to everything. It was little but clean and had AC. Would stay again 🙂
What could be improved: Was a little bit hard to check in and wait for the front desk staff to contact us for help. If you don't have a working sim card you'd struggle getting in.
