Daplace – Sardela Apartment Overview
First Impressions
Walking down Calle del Pestrin in San Marco, you’d almost miss Daplace – Sardela Apartment if you weren’t looking for it — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star gem sits tucked away on a quiet street that feels worlds apart from the tourist crowds, even though you’re literally in the heart of Venice. The building itself has that weathered Venetian elegance you see everywhere here, but there’s something about the way they’ve restored this particular apartment that just feels right.
The Perfect San Marco Hideaway
I mean, the location is honestly incredible — recent guests keep raving about it, and I totally get why. You’re a two-minute walk from St. Mark’s Square, but you know what? You can actually sleep at night because you’re just far enough off the main drag. The narrow alleyways around here are where you’ll find those little bacari (wine bars) that locals actually frequent, and there’s this tiny bridge about fifty meters away that gives you one of those postcard views without the selfie sticks. Couples seem to absolutely love this spot — probably because it feels like you’ve discovered your own secret corner of Venice.
The Space Itself
The room setup is smart — they’ve managed to make efficient use of what’s obviously a historic space without making it feel cramped. The windows face the quiet street, so you get that authentic Venetian light filtering in during the day, and the furnishings strike a nice balance between modern comfort and respecting the building’s character. There’s a small kitchenette that’s actually functional (not just decorative like some places), which comes in handy when you want to grab fresh ingredients from the Rialto market and have a quiet breakfast before the city wakes up.
What Makes It Work
The 9.5 rating isn’t just numbers — you can feel it in the details. Everything’s been thought through, from the way they’ve soundproofed the space (crucial in Venice) to the quality of the linens. The hosts clearly know this neighborhood inside and out, and they’re generous with recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. I particularly appreciated their suggestions for early morning walks — there’s something magical about having the bridges almost to yourself around 7 AM.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Venice can be overwhelming, especially if you’re staying somewhere that throws you right into the chaos. This place gives you the best of both worlds — you’re close enough to everything that matters, but you have a peaceful retreat to come back to. The fact that couples consistently rate it so highly tells you something about the atmosphere they’ve created here. It’s intimate without being cramped, central without being frantic, and authentic without being uncomfortable. For a three-star property, it punches well above its weight, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want in a city like Venice where location and character matter more than marble bathrooms and concierge desks.

The appartment is spectacular with large spacious rooms. Beautifully designed, clean and very comfortable. (We were 4 singles. Could in fact accomodate 4 couples easily). The staff was very nice and responsive. Easy communication. Location is very (too?) central.
Would definitely recommend the place.Jermaine from United States – 30 April 2022 (9/10)
I didn't get breakfast, but everything was within walking distance, the location was amazing, beautiful apartment. I would definitely stay there again!
What could be improved: There were 2 sets of keys. One worked perfectly, the 2nd was a light struggle to get the door open.
