Your Home Base

The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed, which is exactly what you want in Venice where every square meter costs a fortune. The windows opened onto a quiet courtyard — a blessing when you realize how sound carries through these medieval streets at night. What struck me most was the attention to detail: quality linens, decent water pressure (trust me, this matters in old Venetian buildings), and enough storage space that I didn’t feel like I was living out of a suitcase.

Getting Around

From DoMarie, you can walk to St. Mark’s Square in about ten minutes, but here’s the thing — you probably won’t want to rush there. The route takes you through some of Venice’s most photogenic corners, past artisan workshops and over bridges that tour groups somehow miss. The Arsenale is practically next door, and if you’re into the Biennale, you’re already in the perfect spot. Water taxi access is easy enough, though I found myself walking everywhere because the neighborhood itself became part of the experience.

DoMarie doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s not pretending to be a palazzo or cramming in amenities that don’t fit.   Location was super convenient. Lovely residential area of Venice. Local shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Very short walk to the vaparetto stop. Easy to get to with the luggage. Apartment well equipped and super clean. Communication with the host was spot on. We very much enjoyed our visit to Venice. I would definitely recommend DoMarie apartment for your stay in Venice.
  
  What could be improved: AC wa a bit loud to sleep with it being on. Mosquitoes nets were damaged, therefore got bitten a lot. But there is nothing you can do, these insects are very common in the city. Be aware that there are steps to get into the property. Hand luggage is easy to carry, but might be difficult with larger suitcases. Other than that place was lovely and authentic.

  Great location, lovely building in the heart of old Venice – plenty of charm and old features. Well stocks, toasty warm in the cold weather of a March visit and the host was full of great ideas for our visit.

  Very comfortable place in authentic old building. Close to all attractions and water taxis stops, but in the quiet area, with local bars and shops. In the apartment you have everything you need and host is very friendly and easy to reach.

  The beds were fantastically comfortable and the space itself was perfect for families. Was in a great location and very walkable. It was in a quiet area, but only a 15 minute walk from everything.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing wrong with the property and not their fault at all, but just a tip for anyone looking to stay there. When you look at the location, use the map provided on booking.com and do not copy the address and put into google maps. Using google maps will pin the address at a different location.

  absolutely loved this place and would definitely come back again if I get this lucky and find the apartment available and not fully booked for months.
  
  location is a bit far from the san marco square but the whole of venice is walkable so its 10-15 mins max.

  What could be improved: the wifi never worked, and the pillows smelled strong detergent for those who might be allergic.

  This is a great area of Venice to stay in. Sylvia was very helpful with places to eat, things to do & when we hadquestions while there.
  The apartment was clean, comfortable and enough space for two adults.
  
  What could be improved: Just know there are steep stairs going up into the apartment. Not a problem for us but could be for other people.

  Everything is available at home. Just bring your luggage and come. The host is a super person. helped with everything. She came to pick us up from the boat. gave us information about the city. I would definitely recommend. There is a nice area for families with children on the rooftop.

  The location was in a quiet residential neighborhood in a cozy street close to some bars and restaurants. 5 min by walk to San Zaccaria. Very soacious place, furnished in Venetian style. The kitchen was well equipped and the facilities were quite good.

  The peace and quiet at night. The cooking facilities and equipment. The fact that, in the overall Venetian panorama, the lodgings are located in one of the less touristy areas, and thereby far more authentic than just about everything that is comprised between Santa Lucia Station and St. Mark's Square.
  
  What could be improved: Everything was fine, no minus points as such. The bedlinen and mattresses are of the old Italian kind…. this means there are bedsheets and blankets/covers (no duvets), and that the mattresses are made out of compacted wool or other fabric matter and as such give your back no support. But we slept quite well on them nevertheless.
