Dorsoduro – Corte della Comare Overview

First Impressions

Walking down the narrow Calle dei Cerchieri in Dorsoduro, you might almost miss Dorsoduro – Corte della Comare if you’re not paying attention — and that’s actually part of its charm. This three-star property sits tucked away in one of Venice‘s most authentic neighborhoods, where you’ll hear more Italian than English echoing off the canal walls. The entrance feels wonderfully residential, like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than just another tourist hotel.

The Dorsoduro Advantage

Honestly, the location here is pretty spectacular — couples consistently rate it 9.5 out of 10, and I get why. You’re in Dorsoduro, which means you can walk to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in about five minutes, and the Accademia Bridge is practically around the corner. What I love most though is that this area still feels like real Venice. You know what I mean — there are actual grocery stores nearby, locals walking their dogs, and campo squares where kids play football instead of just tourists taking selfies. The neighborhood captures the essence of authentic Venetian life that many visitors seek.

Your Home Base

The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully arranged — you’re in Venice, so space is always at a premium, but everything you need is there. The windows open onto the quiet courtyard (that’s what “corte” means, by the way), which is a blessing when you want to escape the occasional crowds on the main thoroughfares. The decor keeps things simple and clean, nothing fancy but perfectly comfortable for exploring the city all day and collapsing at night. Natural light filters through throughout the day, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Getting Around

Here’s something practical — the nearest vaporetto stop is just a few minutes’ walk, but honestly, you’ll probably find yourself walking everywhere from here. The Zattere waterfront promenade is close enough for morning runs or evening strolls, and you can reach San Marco on foot in about 15 minutes if you don’t mind crossing a bridge or two. I mean, that’s half the fun of staying in Venice anyway, right? Getting pleasantly lost in the maze of streets and suddenly finding yourself somewhere beautiful. The walkability of this location is truly exceptional.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is that perfect balance between being central but not chaotic. You’re staying in one of Venice’s top-rated areas — the property actually scores 9.5 for location — but you’re not dealing with the constant foot traffic that hits places closer to the Rialto or San Marco. The Dorsoduro neighborhood has this wonderful evening rhythm where locals emerge for aperitivo, and you can join them at the nearby bacari (wine bars) without feeling like an outsider. It’s the kind of spot where you’ll actually want to come back to your apartment-style accommodation rather than just crash there between sightseeing marathons. This property truly captures what makes Venice special.
