Hotel Description

Nestled in the enchanting Castello district of Venice, the three-star Fenix Do Dogi Apartments offers a charming retreat in one of Italy’s most iconic cities. Located at 2022 Calle dei Preti, this well-appointed accommodation boasts an impressive 8.0 rating, reflecting its commitment to quality service and guest satisfaction. The Castello area, one of Venice’s six historic sestieri (districts), provides visitors with an authentic Venetian experience away from the more tourist-heavy zones, while still remaining conveniently accessible to the city’s most celebrated attractions. The historic street of Calle dei Preti (“Street of the Priests”) hints at the rich cultural heritage surrounding these apartments, situated in a neighborhood known for its blend of local life and architectural splendor.

From Fenix Do Dogi Apartments, guests can easily explore the eastern part of Venice, where the magnificent Arsenale—the city’s historic shipyard and naval power center—stands as a testament to Venice’s former maritime dominance. The apartments’ location also provides convenient access to the renowned Giardini della Biennale, home to the prestigious Venice Biennale art exhibition, and the lush parklands that offer a refreshing contrast to Venice’s intricate waterways and stone pathways. The nearby Via Garibaldi presents a broader, more spacious street (rare in Venice!) lined with cafés, restaurants, and shops where visitors can experience daily Venetian life. Art enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to the Church of San Pietro di Castello, Venice’s cathedral before St. Mark’s Basilica claimed that distinction, with its impressive bell tower and Palladian façade. While enjoying the quieter, more residential atmosphere of Castello, guests remain just a pleasant walk from the iconic St. Mark’s Square, with the journey itself offering discoveries of hidden campi (squares), centuries-old churches, and picturesque canals that define Venice’s incomparable charm.

The Fenix Do Dogi Apartments themselves embody the perfect balance of traditional Venetian elements with contemporary comforts that modern travelers expect. With its solid 8.0 rating, guests consistently recognize the property’s value and appeal. The apartment-style accommodation provides a more spacious and independent alternative to standard hotel rooms, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the rhythm of Venetian life. Whether returning from a day of exploring the labyrinthine streets and canals, admiring masterpieces in world-class museums, or simply people-watching at a local bacaro (wine bar), Fenix Do Dogi offers a welcoming sanctuary where guests can relax and reflect on their Venetian adventures. The three-star rating ensures guests receive quality service and amenities without the premium price tag of luxury accommodations, making this property an excellent choice for travelers seeking authentic experiences and good value in a city known for its tourism industry. From these apartments, the magic of Venice—with its shimmering lagoon, storied history, architectural wonders, and artistic legacy—unfolds in every direction, promising memories that will last long after visitors bid farewell to the floating city.

Reviews

  • Lutz from Italy – 6 June 2023 (9/10)

Super central position if you are visiting the Biennale, just five minutes walking away from either the Giardini or the Arsenale. And, again, just five minutes from the vaporetto line that links you to the main station, Piazza Roma. The apartment comes with a kitchen and a Supermarket is just around the corner. So, you should absolutely take advantage of preparing some meals on your own as eating out is terribly expensive – unless you settle for junk food.

What could be improved: The kitchen wasn’t too well equipped. A small pot for boiling tea, porridge was missing. Minor details which could easily be fixed. The steepish rent would be another good reason for cooking yourself in order to compensate for the expenditure.

  • Lubomir from United States – 19 July 2024 (9/10)

Host representative was proactive in commuicating with us. We were able to meet and get the key and drop off our luggage ahed of the regular chec-in time which was very convenient.

What could be improved: We accidentally switched off the A/C without noticing as the wall switch was not labelled, but the property manager came quickly and showed us how to trun it back on. Overall very attentive service!

  • Hussam from Portugal – 24 May 2024 (7/10)

    Space and location

What could be improved: There was no shower gel and AC doesn’t go lower than 21°

  • Vinko from Croatia – 10 May 2024 (7/10)

The apartment is located near the Biennale. Clean, tidy, functional

What could be improved: The TV didn't work. The problem is that the air conditioner was not working. The explanation was that it was due to the guests who had the air conditioner on all the time. This is unacceptable because I booked an apartment with air conditioning. Especially since it was cold for a few days. You cannot punish good guests because of bad ones.

  • Teresita from Italy – 13 February 2024 (8/10)

    Excellent location

  • Alan from United Kingdom – 4 October 2023 (9/10)

Apartment down very quiet alleyway but very close to shops and restaurants.
Very comfortable, lots of storage space.

What could be improved: Small shower cubicle.
Upstairs space was of no use at all. No cleaning products in kitchen so had to buy things to wash up with.

  • Rachel from United Kingdom – 18 September 2023 (8/10)

    Comfortable bed and nice location!
Staff were friendly and kept in touch with us throughout the trip

What could be improved: Confusing on how to put hot warm in shower. Once the lady showed us it was fine.
Could’ve used more hangers in the closet for hanging out clothes for 2 people.

  • Federica from Germany – 18 July 2023 (8/10)

    The location was great

  • Gabor from Hungary – 17 February 2023 (9/10)

  • Iulia from Romania – 17 February 2023 (9/10)

The hosts are amazing! Very responsive at all times, one text away. They also provided a list of recommendations (restaurants, bars) which was very helpful!
