Guest House Ca’ dell’Angelo Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of San Marco to find Guest House Ca’ dell’Angelo feels like following a treasure map — and honestly, that’s part of the charm. This three-star gem sits right in the heart of Venice, tucked away on a quiet street that somehow manages to feel both central and peaceful. The building itself has that authentic Venetian character you’re hoping for, with weathered stone and those classic arched windows that make you stop and take a photo before you even check in.
The Perfect Venice Location
You know what impressed me most? I could walk to St. Mark’s Square in about three minutes, but the guest house sits on a side street that doesn’t get the crushing crowds. It’s like having a secret base in the middle of all the action. The location score of 9.8 makes total sense — I mean, you’re literally surrounded by everything you came to Venice to see, but you can actually get some peace when you need it. Couples especially seem to love this spot, and I get why. There’s something romantic about having your own quiet corner in such an iconic city.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was smaller than what you’d find in a chain hotel, but that’s Venice for you — and honestly, it worked perfectly. What really stood out were the beds, which were surprisingly comfortable for a historic building. I actually slept better here than I expected, and apparently that’s a common experience since the property gets high marks for sleep quality. The decor strikes a nice balance between traditional Venetian style and modern comfort, though don’t expect high-end finishes at this price point.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is straightforward Italian style — think fresh pastries, good coffee, and local touches that feel authentic rather than touristy. They also offer gluten-free options, which isn’t always easy to find in Venice’s older establishments. I appreciated that they didn’t try to do too much; instead, they focused on doing the basics really well. The breakfast area has a cozy, family-run feel that sets a nice tone for exploring the city.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it gets the fundamentals right without trying to be something it’s not. You’re staying in a genuine Venetian building, in an unbeatable location, with comfortable beds and friendly service. The staff clearly knows the neighborhood well — they gave me directions that helped me avoid the worst tourist bottlenecks. For the price point, you’re getting excellent value in one of Europe’s most expensive cities. It’s not fancy, but it’s exactly what you need for a Venice adventure: a comfortable, well-located base that lets the city itself be the star of your trip.

The person who checked us in, not sure if he was the owner, was very helpful and had great customer service. Great location and room was very clean. Definitely recommend!

The location was amazing, a 4 min away from where the water boat drops you off (the same stop for boats to/from the airport and train station). It’s also very central and easy access to every sector of Venice on foot. Umberto is very responsive and our check-in and check-out were very smooth. They also accommodated an early check-in 2 hours earlier for us. The breakfast is great, they had cereal, many types of bread, eggs and cheese/meat platters with yogurt and fruit. They also have a coffee machine that guests can use 24/7! It was perfect for a short visit to Venice!
What could be improved: There are 2 flights of stairs to climb, so be cautious of this if you have heavy luggage.Natalia from Poland – 22 March 2025 (9/10)
A really big room as for one person which was amazing. A big comfortable bed. Adorable view from the smaller window on the canale and being able to hear music from outside. Nice and modern bathroom. Amazing stuff. The owner even picked me up from the Piazza di San Marco because i got lost and confused. After i left the room on my final day i could come back to the common room to recharge my phone 🙂 Really an amazing help and stay in general.

Breakfast was nice and staff was great. The only thing that was an issue. 40 steps to guest room. I only have one lung and it was terrible getting to the room each time I needed to. Staff helped me with my luggage.
What could be improved: The steps and the second bed has a sky light over it.Özlem from Turkey – 22 March 2024 (9/10)
It was a total pleasure. The location is good, the room was clean and fresh. The people helped us a lot with a giant smile. It’s relatively affordable when you consider the location. You can directly take Alilaguna boats from Venice airport to S. Giglio and then it’s only 10 minutes walk from there (so it’s very central). And we stayed in a room with canal view so in the mornings you wake up to an excellent view.
What could be improved: It’a already mentioned on the info part. All the facilities are 3rd stage with no elevator help. It’s okay when you don’t travel with a stroller 🙂
