The entrance is understated in that classic Venetian way, where you might walk past it twice before realizing you’ve found your hotel.

Here’s what I love about this spot — you can roll out of bed and be at the Doge’s Palace in about three minutes, but when you want to escape the crowds, you just duck down one of the side streets and find yourself in quiet residential Venice. The Salizada San Moise’ is actually one of those wider pedestrian streets that locals use as a shortcut, so you get this nice mix of authentic Venetian life and tourist energy. I mean, couples absolutely rave about this location (they give it a 9.9 rating), and after staying here, I totally get why.

The Room Experience

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid three-star in Venice — not huge, but thoughtfully designed to make the most of the space. My room had that classic Venetian charm with exposed beams and traditional furnishings, though everything felt fresh and well-maintained. The windows opened onto the street below, and honestly, there’s something magical about falling asleep to the sound of footsteps echoing off ancient stones. The bathrooms are compact but functional — you know, typical European style where everything has its place.

Morning Fuel

Breakfast here is actually pretty impressive for a three-star property. They do a proper continental spread with both buffet options and gluten-free choices, which is surprisingly thoughtful. The dining area has this cozy, intimate feel — not one of those massive hotel breakfast halls where you feel like cattle. I particularly appreciated that they source some local pastries and the coffee is genuinely good Italian coffee, not that watered-down hotel stuff you sometimes get. It’s the kind of breakfast that sets you up nicely for a day of wandering around Venice without feeling overly heavy.

What really makes Hotel Firenze work is that perfect balance between location and value. You’re paying three-star prices but getting a location that five-star hotels would charge double for. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward the best bacari for cicchetti or tell you which bridges to take to avoid the worst crowds. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, which I find refreshing in a city where so many places oversell and underdeliver.   Our arrival at the Hotel Firenze was wonderful and the staff continued a super level of service all the way through our stay. The bedroom was first class – very clean with a spacious bathroom. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever had in a hotel. The breakfasts were plentiful and very tasty. The location of Hotel Firenza could not have been better, being very near to a vaporetto stop and right beside St. Mark square. There were plenty of places to eat, within an easy walk. There is nothing that we can think of that we were unhappy about. We would highly recommend a stay at Hotel Firenze.

  We were delighted with this hotel; it was small but charming and spotlessly clean. The rooms were lovely, with beautiful Murano glass lighting, attractive modern bathrooms, and thoughtful complimentary amenities. The Breakfast room was small, but had the typical choices for a decent starter meal including fresh fruits, pastries, and fresh coffee. The location was ideal, in the heart of the designer shopping district, within easy walking distance of fine restaurants and historical sites. The staff were consistently cheerful and attentive, particularly Claudia, who was a great help in recommending local culinary delights and attractions. Her fluency in several languages demonstrated her genuine pleasure in assisting guests. We regret that our stay in Venice was too short.
  
  What could be improved: It's typical of Italy to have limited vegan options on menus. I had hoped to easily maintain my diet, but unfortunately, I found this to be challenging, not only at this hotel, but throughout the country

  A welcome drink on the rooftop terrace when we arrived. Complimentary Prosecco served with our good breakfast. A parting gift of a little bottle of limoncello. Close to many of the main sights, and also close to the water transportation system. Staff very warm and helpful.
  
  What could be improved: This was perfect for a short stay when we wanted to visit San Marco. For a longer stay, we prefer Dorsoduru, which is a quiet neighborhood close to the delightful Campo Santa Margherita.
