Residenza Casanova, appartamento in Giudecca Overview
First Impressions
When I first stepped into Residenza Casanova, appartamento in Giudecca, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this three-star property tucked away on Venice’s quieter island. The entrance feels more like you’re being welcomed into someone’s carefully curated home rather than a typical hotel — which, it turns out, is exactly the charm. There’s something refreshingly authentic about the place that immediately sets it apart from the tourist-heavy accommodations you’ll find around San Marco. The moment you walk in, you realize you’ve found one of those rare spots that locals would actually recommend.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying on Giudecca — you’re literally a five-minute vaporetto ride from all the main Venice action, but when you come home in the evening, it’s like stepping into a completely different world. The island has this wonderfully residential feel where you’ll see actual Venetians going about their daily lives, hanging laundry and chatting with neighbors. From the property, you get these incredible views across the water to the main city, especially magical at sunset when the light hits all those palazzo facades. Couples absolutely rave about this location (and honestly, I can see why — it’s romantic without being overly touristy), giving it a 9.7 rating for good reason.
The Apartment Experience
What makes Residenza Casanova special is that you’re not just getting a hotel room — you’re getting a proper Venetian apartment experience. The space feels lived-in and comfortable, with thoughtful touches that show someone actually cares about how guests experience the place. I mean, you’ve got a kitchen if you want to pick up some fresh ingredients from the Rialto market, which is something you definitely can’t do in most Venice hotels. The apartment maintains that authentic Venetian character with original details, but everything works properly — the Wi-Fi is solid, the shower has good pressure, you know, the practical stuff that actually matters when you’re traveling.
Getting Around
The vaporetto stop is practically at your doorstep, which makes getting anywhere in Venice incredibly easy. What I really appreciate is that you can escape the crowds whenever you need to — after a day of navigating the packed streets around the Doge’s Palace or St. Mark’s, coming back to the peaceful Giudecca feels like a breath of fresh air. The night vaporetto service means you’re not stranded if you want to enjoy Venice’s evening scene, though honestly, some of my favorite moments were just sitting by the water on Giudecca with a glass of wine, watching the city lights reflect across the lagoon.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.7 rating, this place clearly hits the mark for travelers who want something more authentic than the typical Venice hotel experience. It’s that perfect balance — you get the romance and charm of staying in a real Venetian neighborhood without sacrificing convenience or comfort. The location score of 9.9 speaks for itself, but what really makes the difference is how the property manages to feel both special and practical at the same time. If you’re looking for a Venice stay that feels more like living there than just visiting, Residenza Casanova delivers exactly that experience.

Met at the apartment by the wonderfully friendly and helpful, Maria. She explained everything and provided useful local knowledge.
The apartment was spotlessly clean and well stocked with everything we needed for our 6 day stay (including a bottle of Prosecco).
Really quiet setting, and well connected for vaperetto stops to Venice, as well as the bus station.
Some lovely local bars and restaurants, offering great value for money.
We have visited Venice many times for the Biennale, but it was our first time staying on Giudecca. Will definitely stay again. Feels so much calmer and more authentic than the main island. Great option if you want to live like a local.Megan from United States – 8 October 2024 (10/10)
The apartment was spacious and filled with all the comforts of home. Excellent communication and helpful tips on getting to the property. It’s across the water from the main island which was very nice. We wanted to be away from the crowds so it was perfect. We also were able to store our bags until our later departure the day of check out. The hosts were very wonderful! I would stay there again 100%
