santamaria apartment Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow calli of Dorsoduro to reach santamaria apartment, you immediately sense you’re in one of Venice’s most authentic neighborhoods. This three-star property sits right in the heart of what locals consider the real Venice — away from the cruise ship crowds but still incredibly central. The building itself has that weathered Venetian charm you hope for, and honestly, the location score of 9.4 makes complete sense once you’re here. The area draws visitors seeking genuine Venetian character rather than commercialized attractions.
The Dorsoduro Advantage
You know what really struck me about staying here? Dorsoduro feels like where actual Venetians live and work. You’ve got the Peggy Guggenheim Collection practically around the corner, and the Accademia Bridge is close enough that you can easily walk to San Marco without dealing with the vaporetto crowds. I mean, couples rate this area so highly because there’s something genuinely romantic about wandering these quieter streets in the evening. The neighborhood has this perfect balance — refined enough with its galleries and wine bars, but not touristy in that overwhelming way you get near the Rialto. It’s the kind of place where you’ll discover hidden gems on every corner.
The Apartment Experience
The santamaria apartment delivers exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star place in Venice. The space feels authentically Venetian without being cramped (which, let’s be honest, is an achievement in this city). What I appreciated most was how the apartment setup gives you that sense of actually living in Venice for a few days rather than just passing through. You’ll find the essentials are covered well, and the 8.8 rating reflects guests who clearly felt comfortable and well-cared-for during their stays. The thoughtful design makes a real difference in your overall experience.
Getting Around Venice
From this spot in Dorsoduro, Venice actually becomes manageable — and that’s saying something. The Zattere waterfront is a short walk away, perfect for those morning runs or evening strolls that locals do. You can reach the train station without too much hassle, but more importantly, you’re positioned to explore Venice’s quieter side. The Ca’ Rezzonico vaporetto stop isn’t far, though honestly, you’ll probably find yourself walking most places because the location is just that central. The neighborhood’s walkability is genuinely impressive for Venice.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something to be said for a place that consistently delivers on expectations without trying to be something it’s not. The santamaria apartment works because it understands what travelers actually want in Venice — a comfortable base in an excellent location that doesn’t break the bank. Couples especially seem to connect with the romantic potential of the area, and I get it. Dorsoduro after dark, with its intimate campos and canal-side walks, creates those Venice moments you came here for. The high ratings reflect guests who found exactly what they were looking for: an authentic Venetian experience in one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods.
Hotel in Venice reservations spike before Redentore fireworks when the lagoon fills with floating dinners.

Beautiful apartment away from the more tourist areas. Located on a quite, small canal, the sound of the water creates a wonderful atmosphere. Loved our stay.

This is a comfortable apartment ideal for a couple with two children who are willing to share a room. It has two bathrooms and everything you need including washing machine and choice of coffee-makers! The location is superb, five minutes or so from the Accademia, the Peggy Guggenheim and the end of the Dorsoduro. There is an excellent little supermarket round the corner. Very close to several useful vaporetto stops.
