Sogno Veneziano Overview
First Impressions
Walking down Calle Colonne in Castello, you might almost miss Sogno Veneziano — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star gem sits tucked away from the tourist chaos, but don’t let the modest entrance fool you. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that washes over you. It’s like finding a secret that other travelers haven’t discovered yet, even though the place consistently scores a remarkable 9.3 from guests who’ve actually stayed here.
Location Perfection
Here’s what I love about staying in Castello — you’re genuinely in Venice, not just visiting it. Sogno Veneziano sits in what locals consider the top-rated area of the city, and after spending time here, I completely understand why couples rate the location 9.9 for romantic getaways. You can walk to St. Mark’s Square in about ten minutes, but you’re far enough away that you won’t hear the crowds at night. The nearby Campo Santa Maria Formosa is where Venetians actually grab their morning coffee, and there’s something magical about starting your day alongside locals rather than tour groups.
The Rooms
The accommodations strike that perfect balance between authentic Venetian character and modern comfort. You know what impressed me most? The attention to detail in preserving original architectural elements while ensuring everything actually works properly — something that’s surprisingly rare in Venice’s older buildings. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Venice, after all), but they’re thoughtfully designed with enough space to spread out your things. Most importantly, the beds are genuinely comfortable, and the bathrooms have proper water pressure, which anyone who’s stayed in historic Italian properties will tell you is worth celebrating.
Neighborhood Life
Castello feels like the real Venice that exists beyond the postcard images. From Sogno Veneziano, you can wander down quiet canals where laundry still hangs between buildings and elderly Venetians sit outside their doors in the evening. The local bacari (wine bars) serve cicchetti that haven’t been adapted for tourist palates, and the morning market at Via Garibaldi gives you a glimpse into how Venetians actually live. I mean, you’re still in one of the world’s most famous cities, but somehow it doesn’t feel like a museum here.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to Sogno Veneziano isn’t flashy amenities or over-the-top service — it’s the feeling that you’ve found your own little corner of Venice. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood and can point you toward experiences that guidebooks miss entirely. Plus, there’s something to be said for staying somewhere that consistently earns a 9.8 location score without being right in the thick of the tourist madness. You get the best of both worlds: easy access to everything you want to see, but a peaceful retreat when you need to escape the crowds. For the price point of a three-star property, the experience feels much more premium than you’d expect.
Early hotels booking in Venice secures balcony seats for Vogalonga regattas and torchlit basilica tours.

Yuan from Malta – 28 October 2024 (9/10)
Great location + a beautiful apartment and a warm helpful owner
What could be improved: The stairs going up are kinda narrow, can be challenging for those with big suitcases, no washing machine. But everything else is perfect.Xanthi from Greece – 13 October 2024 (9/10)
Lovingly renovated apartment with views of the lagoon and a sculpture garden. Good location for the Bienalle and far from the madding crowds besieging St. Mark's square. The espresso maker with coffee pods, a living plant, books, even shampoos and shower gels made this a very welcoming "home" in Venice. The proximity to the excellent restaurants, coffee shops and greengrocer of Calle Garibaldi was much appreciated.
What could be improved: Two flights of narrow stairs to negotiate.Vicky from United Kingdom – 3 August 2024 (8/10)
Well equipped apartment in a good location. Plenty of space for a family of 4 (better suited to older children due to stairs)
Air con worked well.
25 minute walk to St Marks square, lots of restaurants nearby & easy access to vaporettto.

The apartment is well located, in a quiet street, the water bus is right next door, there is a supermarket 2 minutes away, parks for walking… The center of Venice is 10 minutes away by water bus. The apartment is big and beautiful, well decorated and quiet. Very nice bathroom!
We really enjoyed our stay in Venice in this apartment. Super friendly host, he gave us all the useful information for visiting Venice and quickly answered our questions. We will come back here!Kłaczek from Poland – 21 August 2023 (10/10)
Our stay at Sogno Veneziano was sensational. The apartment is absolutely brilliant. Huge space, very clean, the host has thought of everything, nothing was missing. The district is only a moment away from the main attractions but quiet. We loved walking near the Basilica of San Pietro di Castello, having breakfast at Majera via Garibaldi. Unforgettable moments.
Sarah from United Kingdom – 12 August 2023 (10/10)
A beautiful apartment with plenty of space for a family to spread out and relax. The main bedroom is very large and the attic space was huge. The second bedroom was well laid out with 2 single beds, which was perfect for our family. The location is wonderful – a few metres away from the lively Via Garibaldi with a useful supermarket and plenty of cafes and restaurants – an area where many Venetians live. Authentic yet peaceful and a lovely 10 minute walk to St Marks Square.
There was plenty of helpful and prompt communication with the host. Check-in was very straight forward.
What could be improved: Nothing – everything was first rate and I would book here again without hesitation. We loved it!Sandra from Lithuania – 19 February 2023 (10/10)
Everything was excellent! We loved the apartment (especially the attic), the location (about 10 min walk from the St Mark's Square), the attentive host, the Carnival and everything about the visit. Just one slight tip for the host-to install some international channels on tv.
