Ca’ del Sol Overview

First Impressions

Walking down Salizada de Ca’ Zusto feels like discovering one of Venice’s best-kept secrets, and Ca’ del Sol sits right in the heart of it all. This three-star hotel doesn’t try to be something it’s not — instead, it nails the essentials with that effortless Venetian charm you’re hoping to find. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of relief that you’ve found your little corner of the city, away from the tourist chaos but still perfectly positioned for everything you want to see.

Location & Neighborhood

Honestly, the location is what really sets this place apart — there’s a reason it scored a 9.2 for location. You’re in Santa Croce, which I’d argue is one of the most authentic neighborhoods in Venice, where locals actually live and work. The Rialto Bridge is just a pleasant walk away, but you’re far enough from the main drags that you can actually breathe. What I love about this area is how you’ll stumble across tiny campos and hidden churches that most tourists never see. Plus, you’re close to the train station without being in that hectic zone — it’s like having the best of both worlds.

The Rooms

The rooms at Ca’ del Sol are what I’d call thoughtfully simple. You won’t find over-the-top decorations, but everything feels clean, comfortable, and genuinely Venetian. The windows open onto either the quiet street or internal courtyards, and there’s something really peaceful about falling asleep to the sound of footsteps on stone rather than water taxis and crowds. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed — I mean, this is Venice, so space is always at a premium, but they’ve made smart use of what they have.

Daily Life at the Hotel

What strikes me most about staying here is how it feels like you’re living in Venice rather than just visiting. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out, and they’re genuinely helpful with directions to places that aren’t in every guidebook. Mornings are particularly lovely — you can grab coffee at the local bars nearby and watch the city wake up at a more human pace than you’ll find near San Marco. The hotel itself has this quiet efficiency that lets you come and go as you please without feeling like you’re constantly navigating a tourist machine.

Why Couples Love It

There’s definitely something romantic about this place that couples pick up on immediately. Maybe it’s the intimate scale of the hotel, or how the neighborhood feels like your own private discovery, but it consistently gets high marks from people traveling together. The narrow streets around Ca’ del Sol are perfect for those evening strolls where you’re not fighting crowds, and you’ll find cozy restaurants and wine bars that feel authentically local. It’s the kind of place where you can actually have conversations over dinner without shouting over other tourists — and honestly, that’s becoming harder to find in Venice these days.

Reviews of Ca’ del Sol

  • John from Australia – 26 March 2025 (8/10)

A comfortable and well equipped flat. We had a problem with heating the flat but the managers sorted it out quickly and to our satisfaction.

What could be improved: The central heating needed adjustment and there were no extra blankets but the managers sorted out both issues.

  • Daniel from Argentina – 9 February 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Faltaría un Smart TV y (algo insólito) no hay un microondas. El único baño con ducha se encuentra en la planta inferior, mientras que las habitaciones están en la superior, lo que vuelve algo engorroso el tomar un baño.

  • Paolo from Italy – 30 December 2024 (8/10)

    Struttura nuova e curata

    What could be improved: Nulla

  • Lani from United States – 29 November 2024 (9/10)

This apartment was perfect for us. It was convenient to the train station and the vaporretto and we enjoyed walking all over Venice directly from the property. There was a nice little market close by which was very convenient. Being able to do a little bit of laundry was really helpful. We wished we had more time to enjoy the pleasant little courtyard!

What could be improved: We could occasionally hear a little bit of noise from a neighbor or someone passing by on the street but thankfully the area around the apartment is generally very quiet.

  • Domenica from Italy – 20 October 2024 (7/10)

    La posizione, la pulizia
Servono un po di lavori di ristrutturazione

  • Vicki from United Kingdom – 15 October 2024 (8/10)

Good location, lots within walking distance – 3 mins to nearest ACTV water taxi stop, grocery shop and restaurants within 3 mins in the other direction, 15 mins to Rialto Bridge.
Apartment was comfortable and well-equippef for 4 travellers.

What could be improved: Apartment maybe needs a little fresh paint – and some more mirrors please for us ladies especially!
We were disappointed to find that the upstairs 'bathroom' was a toilet, bidet and washbasin but not shower, meaning that the only shower was in the downstairs bathroom over the bath. This was not clear from the description, although it may have got lost in translation.

  • Xhensila from Albania – 10 June 2024 (9/10)

The location was great, only 15 minutes on foot from the Grand Canal. You could find great restaurants really close to the house and a supermarket only a couple minutes away. The house was spacious and comfortable. The host was really nice to us, he let us check in much earlier and gave really helpful suggestions for our stay. We really liked the inner courtyard, had our breakfast there in the mornings.

What could be improved: The house was generally clean but it could have been better, it wasn't properly swept.

  • Lisa from Austria – 26 October 2023 (8/10)

  • Paavo from Estonia – 25 June 2023 (1/10)

The location was good, close to the train station and bus terminal.

What could be improved: The AC made a tractor noise when on cooling mode and it made it impossible to sleep. The windows did not have mosquito nets on them so we could not open the windows for fresh air as well. In addition the apartment was very poorly cleaned. Very poor experience.

  • Iñigo from Spain – 23 June 2023 (9/10)

Muy céntrico y accesible. Amplio y confortable. Tranquilo. Cerca de parada de vaporetto y buena pizzeria cerca.

What could be improved: Todo bien en general pero no tenía microondas y se hubiera agradecido.

El tema de tirar la basura tampoco quedaba claro y en nuestro tejado. Muy complicado llevando maletas y niñas.
