Ca Gabry Overview
First Impressions
Walking down the narrow Calle del Scaleter in Dorsoduro, you might almost miss Ca Gabry if you’re not paying attention — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star boutique property sits tucked away in one of Venice’s most authentic neighborhoods, where you’ll hear more Italian than English echoing off the ancient walls. The entrance feels refreshingly intimate after navigating the tourist crowds elsewhere in the city. The property captures the essence of genuine Venetian hospitality in a way that larger hotels simply cannot replicate.
The Dorsoduro Advantage
Here’s what makes staying in Dorsoduro special — you’re actually living like a Venetian for a few days. Ca Gabry’s location puts you within walking distance of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the stunning Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, but the real magic happens when you wander the quiet campos in the early morning with your espresso. Couples seem to get this instinctively, probably because there’s something undeniably romantic about having your own little corner of Venice that feels secret and personal. The neighborhood rewards those who take time to explore its hidden corners and local establishments.
Your Home Base
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — you’re in Venice, after all, where space is premium real estate. What struck me was how they managed to blend traditional Venetian elements with modern comfort without making it feel forced. The windows open onto typical Venetian views, and the morning light filtering through actually made me want to linger over my coffee instead of rushing out to sightsee. Each detail reflects careful consideration for guest comfort and authentic aesthetic.
Getting Around
From Ca Gabry, you can walk to San Marco in about fifteen minutes, but I’d recommend taking the scenic route along the Zattere waterfront — it’s one of those Venice experiences that guidebooks mention but you don’t really appreciate until you’re doing it yourself. The nearest vaporetto stop connects you easily to the train station or airport when it’s time to leave. I found myself walking most places because it’s Venice and everything feels like a discovery waiting to happen. The pedestrian-friendly layout makes navigation intuitive even for first-time visitors.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.1 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here. Ca Gabry delivers exactly what you want from a Venice experience — authentic neighborhood vibes without sacrificing comfort or accessibility. You’re not paying for unnecessary frills, but you’re getting something more valuable: a genuine sense of place. When you can step out your door and immediately feel like you’re in real Venice rather than tourist Venice, that’s worth quite a lot. The staff clearly understands this philosophy — they’re helpful without being intrusive, which feels very Venetian in itself. This balance between service and authenticity sets the property apart.

Sehr freundlicher Gastgeber, mit guten Tipps zu Venedig. Tolle Lage: ganz zentral, trotzdem sehr ruhig.

Great location! The apartment is on a quiet street, 1-5 minute's walk from multiple campi, cafes, a grocery store, etc. but a good distance from the crowds and noise. Rudi met us near the location and not only gave us a tour of the property but also of the entire area. His advice and his contagious enthusiasm provided us with a wonderful welcome to Venice. "You are not alone here," he said on our first day. We knew we could contact him with any questions we might have. The apartment's photographs are accurate.
What could be improved: Although this is a non-smoking apartment, cigarette smoke seemed to permeate through the floor from an apartment below.Jacques-olivier from France – 22 February 2025 (10/10)
Emplacement, confort, accueil chaleureux

What could be improved: Tot bé el únic problema per segons qui serà que has de pujar unes escales per accedir al apartamentOlivia from United Kingdom – 30 November 2024 (8/10)
Rudi was great. He met my brother and I to hand over the keys. We had a great stay. The apartment is very well situated – spacious with great facilities. The second bed was a little uncomfortable but that’s all. Everything else was great and would stay again! Rudi was also very kind and helpful.

Doris from Canada – 10 September 2024 (10/10)
The host, Rudi, went above and beyond our expectations. He met us at the water taxi stop and walked us to the apartment. He helped carry our bags up the stairs and explained how everything worked. He is an exceptional human being. The kitchen and washroom were well stocked. The apartment was very clean, airconditioned and bright. The location was excellent. Many restaurants and grocery stores nearby. You could walk to San Marco Piazza and Rialto Bridge.
What could be improved: If you have a hard time with stairs than this is not the property for you. That is the only negative aspect of this property.Dushanova from United Kingdom – 27 July 2024 (10/10)
The flat is very nice. The location is amazing and the host has been very helpful. He even came to pick us up from the water station and showed us to the flat.
What could be improved: Too many stairs, however, it's the perfect opportunity to exercise.
