Casa Renata Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Casa Renata feels like discovering a well-kept secret in one of Venice’s most authentic neighborhoods. This three-star gem sits tucked away in Dorsoduro, and honestly, the moment you step through the entrance, you realize this isn’t your typical tourist hotel. The intimate scale means you’re not fighting crowds in the lobby, and there’s something genuinely welcoming about the whole setup that larger properties just can’t match.
The Dorsoduro Advantage
You know what I love about staying in Dorsoduro? You’re actually living like a Venetian rather than just visiting. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is practically around the corner, and the morning walk to grab coffee feels authentic — locals heading to work, kids on their way to school. The area has this perfect balance where you’re close enough to San Marco (maybe 15 minutes on foot) but far enough away that you escape the worst of the tourist chaos. I mean, couples consistently rate this location a 9.7, and after spending time here, I totally get why.
Sleep Quality That Actually Matters
Let’s talk about something that can make or break a Venice trip — getting decent sleep. The beds here are genuinely comfortable, not just “hotel comfortable.” After long days wandering the city (and trust me, you’ll be doing a lot of walking), sinking into a proper mattress makes all the difference. The room I stayed in had this quiet, residential feel that you don’t always find in Venice hotels. No late-night revelers stumbling past your window, just the occasional gentle lapping of water from a nearby canal. The thoughtful design creates a sanctuary after exploring the winding streets.
What Makes It Work
Casa Renata operates on a smaller scale, which means attention to detail that bigger hotels often miss. The staff actually remembers your name, and they’re genuinely helpful with local recommendations — not just the obvious tourist spots everyone suggests. The building itself has character without being overly precious about it. You’re staying in a real Venetian structure, but one that’s been thoughtfully updated for modern comfort. It strikes that sweet spot between authentic atmosphere and practical amenities. This balance is what keeps guests returning year after year.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.3 rating isn’t an accident — this place delivers on the fundamentals while giving you that neighborhood experience most visitors never get. You’ll find yourself taking different routes back each evening, discovering tiny bridges and quiet squares that tour groups never see. The location score of 9.7 tells the real story here: you’re positioned perfectly to explore both the major sights and the hidden corners of Venice. For the price point, you’re getting remarkable value in a city where accommodation costs can quickly spiral out of control. Casa Renata represents the best of what a three-star property can offer.
Best hotels in Venice blend frescoed salons, marble hammams, and rooftop altanas for prosecco sunsets.

Spacious and clean apartment in excellent location – we loved our stay. Bed was super comfortable. Communication with Enrico easy. Great value, would definitely stay again 🙂
What could be improved: Tiny thing, but curtains won't block out the light in the morning, so bring your sleeping mask if an issue for you.Gert-jan from Netherlands – 19 May 2024 (10/10)
The apartment is really nice and clean. It's at a great location on a lively square, close to all attractions and near a vaporetto stop as well. Enrico, our host, was very communicative and welcoming. He even had cakes and bottles of sparkling water waiting for us when we arrived.
The large roof terrace was a definite bonus.
What could be improved: Nothing!Michelle from United Kingdom – 2 January 2024 (9/10)
Our host Enrico was fantastic from giving information and waiting for us ans our plane was late and we issued our connection boat and had to wait a further 45 minutes for the next water boat making us very late . He was very patient and waited for us. The room is very large and in a great location close to the leonardo du Vinci museum and close to restaurants, coffee shop and a supermarket. We had a fantastic stay and would return.
What could be improved: Going out in the morning to get coffee but that is my preferenceFoster from United States – 3 November 2023 (10/10)
Really great location, the host was lovely and very communicative and welcoming.
What could be improved: It was a bit loud on the plaza but not an issue for sleeping.Jami from Australia – 16 October 2023 (8/10)
Excellent amenities for a comfortable stay. Great location-away from most of the crowds and felt more like living here rather than being another tourist! Enrico also left nice welcome gift in refrigerator-Thank you !
What could be improved: Entrance to building -bit unfinished but looks like they are working on this.Purple from United Kingdom – 21 September 2023 (9/10)

Excellent location, at campo santa margarita, near to all attractions but without the overcrowding of areas such as san marco. In the evening it felt like the locals claimed back the square from the day's tourism and children played and people met in the square. Lots of good bars and restaurants with a lovely pizza restaurant 3 mins walk away, Al profeta. The apartment is immaculately clean, I usually have to wash dishes to ensure they are clean but here everything was so sparkling clean it looked like a dishwasher advert. Enrico was helpful and responded quickly and was great when we were delayed arriving. The terrace was such a plus point, great for breakfasts and other meals and incredible for Venice, to have such a big outside space. Other facilities also very good, cooker, hob, fridge and cooking equipment, bed so comfortable and big.

The area was wonderful as was the apartment and Enrico our host… On our last day our flight had a late departure and he was kind enough to let us stay until later instead of waiting outside, he had no other guests arriving that day due to it being booked again the following day…. It was amazing all around and one of our best holidays ever.
What could be improved: Orient experience was a rip offTaryn from Australia – 3 August 2023 (10/10)
Such a fantastic apartment! Very clean, great facilities with some complementary drinks in the bar fridge! It is in a lovely location with two small balconies to look over the Piazza, I highly recommend this apartment!
Enrico was so lovely, easy to communicate with and check in and our was easy! Thanks so much for having us 😄Helena from Germany – 11 September 2022 (10/10)
Fantastic place, very central location on a square with cafes and restaurants, however thanks to the high quality windows of the apartment the noise from the square was absolutely no problem. The apartment is spacious in a nice historic house. The owner is exceptionally kind and helpful.
