Casa Segalin Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow streets of Cannaregio to find Casa Segalin, you’ll probably pass it once before realizing you’ve arrived — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star boutique hotel sits tucked away in one of Venice’s most authentic neighborhoods, where you’re more likely to hear locals chatting in Venetian dialect than tour groups shuffling past. The entrance is understated in that perfectly Italian way, but once you step inside, you immediately get why this place scores a 9.4 rating from guests.

The Cannaregio Advantage

Here’s what I love about staying in this part of Venice — you’re actually living like a local instead of being trapped in the tourist bubble around San Marco. Cannaregio has this wonderful mix of residential calm and authentic Venetian life, with neighborhood bacari (wine bars) and family-run restaurants that most visitors never discover. You can walk to the main sights in about 15 minutes, but when you come home in the evening, it feels like you’re escaping to a quieter, more genuine side of the city. The nearby Fondamenta delle Zattere is perfect for evening strolls, and there’s a fantastic little market just a few bridges away.

Your Room and Comfort

The rooms at Casa Segalin strike that sweet spot between traditional Venetian character and modern comfort. I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or designer furniture, but everything feels thoughtfully chosen and well-maintained. The beds are genuinely comfortable (which isn’t always a given in Venice’s older buildings), and the bathrooms are compact but functional. What really impressed me was how quiet each room stays despite being in the city center — the thick walls of these old Venetian buildings actually work in your favor.

The Details That Matter

You know what sets this place apart? It’s the small things that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood and will point you toward hidden gems rather than just handing you a generic tourist map. The building itself has character — original terrazzo floors, traditional Venetian windows, that sort of authentic detail you can’t fake. There’s no restaurant on-site, but honestly, that’s not a problem when you’re surrounded by some of the best local eateries in Venice.

Why Guests Love It

The 9.4 rating really tells the story here, and after staying there, I totally get it. Couples especially seem to fall for this place — there’s something romantic about being tucked away in residential Cannaregio while still having easy access to everything Venice offers. The value is exceptional for what you get, especially considering how expensive Venice can be. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, which is refreshing in a city where so many places feel like tourist traps. You’ll leave feeling like you actually experienced Venice rather than just visiting it.

Reviews of Casa Segalin

  • Elena from Finland – 2 March 2025 (10/10)

Great location. Clean, cozy and warm apartment. The hostess was always in touch and sent detailed instructions on how to get to the apartment. The hostess also left a snack for breakfast and a bottle of excellent wine.

What could be improved: The sofa bed creaks a lot.

  • Kg from United States – 3 January 2025 (10/10)

Roomy ground level apartment in a good location. Quiet area.
Just a short walk to vaporettos and shopping.
The apartment had everything for a short stay, and the owner left a nice welcoming gift. The full-size refrigerator and washer and drying rack were helpful. Bathroom on the small size, but typical for Venice. It was a nice place to stay for several days in Venice.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Christina from Italy – 14 November 2024 (10/10)

Everything about this place was exceptional. The host Elisabetta was very kind and friendly and responded quickly to messages. When I had some confusion about how to work the heater she came right around with her son and had the heat on fast. The casa is in a quiet Calle but it’s very close to Strada Nova. The place is a good size, clean and comfy. Food and drink, even a bottle of wine was left for me when I arrived. What a wonderful place to stay in the best part of Venice. I would love to stay here another time. Thank you!

  • John from United Kingdom – 11 November 2024 (10/10)

Excellently located in a side street for main tourist sites, restuarants and bars (Strada Nova), and Vaparettos. Had a really comfortable stay. Well eqyipped for self catering and a nice touch to provide complimentary bottle of wine, yogurts and bread. The host happy to advise about directions to the apartment.

  • Claudia from United Kingdom – 30 October 2024 (10/10)

What an amazing property. The apartment is very central yet super quiet. Spacious and clean.
A home away from the home with everything you need for you stay in Venice. The host was easily available when we needed to speak to her and she left us a lovely breakfast hamper, as well a lush bottle of Chianti wine!
I would definitely book again Casa Segalin for our next trip in Venice.

  • Krawl33 from United States – 17 October 2024 (10/10)

The apartment had all items needed for the stay and then some. The owners were very helpful in finding the place. It was well kept and cozy.

What could be improved: The location was a bit off the attraction areas but nothing is too far in Venice.

  • Patricia from United States – 17 September 2024 (10/10)

The location was great as far as Venice goes. very clean. The host was amazing.

What could be improved: It was all good. I would highly recommend staying here.

  • Martin from United Kingdom – 11 September 2024 (8/10)

The location was very good for walking and vaporetto access to Venice sights

What could be improved: For a city apartment similar to how many locals live it was very good, if you want a view, look elsewhere

  • Kirfarrugia from Malta – 6 August 2024 (10/10)

The best place we've ever found on Booking.com! The location was perfect, we enjoyed walking to pretty much anywhere in Venice, and also a vaporetto stop nearby. It was very quiet both day and night. The check-in directions were very clear and helpful. The owner was so very lovely and responsive! I can't say enough good things about this place! Definitely go for it

  • Dinko from Austria – 11 May 2024 (10/10)
